Hi lexa.
I am doing well to be honest, altho sometimes it is a struggle. we (me and hubby) have walked 35miles since monday, This has helped me beyond belief.
It's not as scary and as stressful as is seems to be lexa. I am suprised at myself actualy.
Only you will know when you can start. I had started many an exercise and diet plan in the past half heartidly and you guessed it I slipped back into my old ways after 3 days, I wasn't realy but I tried anyhoo.
Your time will come, you just have to file some stuff in the right places upstairs then you can start your journey.
Good Luck to you. I hope you do really well for YOU!0 -

Wow you are amazing - 35 miles!!! well done!
Can I just say too that when the time comes when you slip a bit (and it willwe've all been there) just promise yourself to keep up the exercise....believe me it slows down any gain hugely and at least helps you to have some sense of motivation as well as keeping up the psychological benefits....

Thank you ladies. I feel like I have this big black dog ( thanks Churchill for letting me nick your idea aad that funny but good animated film that shows other people without depression what it feels like) sitting on my spirit weighing me down. I have got one of those thigh master things to do in front of the tv and a bouncer. And some fun looking exercise DVD's and I love dance. I just seem scared/unmotivated/ resistant to start but also know from experience and what you guys on her are reminding me of that one you start and you get past the first few weeks barrier ( 21 days to establish a habit apparently!) it is rather good. Lorks what does a girl need!!
That is AMAZING you walked so far. You have good reason to feel proud of your self I think.Green and minimal chemicals is the new black- I know a fair old bit about sustainability, specially energy and transport stuff. If I can help- please ask!0 -
Happy mothers day to all you mams out there, hope you have had a great day so far?
Today I have refrained from all things "nice" cake and chocolates crisps too. not doing to bad altho I have to admit to having a few glasses/bottles of wine over the weekend as my buddie from Wales has been down and we had to celebrate St.Davids day in styleeeee. Hope I havent done too much damage.
Have waled a total of 45.4miles this week. Will try to keep it up, I am enjoying it.
How are you all doing?0 -
You should rename your thread 'cheery and slimmer'
You're doing really well! I did manage to walk a bit today and at least half of the walking was with a really heavy bag so I'm figuring i've had some exercise despite not going to the gym! And I've lost 2lbs I hopewhich will take me nearly into overweight rather than obese....
Keep it up!!
PS have you ever thought of walking a marathon? I got something through about this the other day. Here's a training schedule for a half marathon http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/walk.htm
sounds like you're a good bit of the way there already!0 -
Thanks Belfastgirl.
I am going to give it a try, Will announce the day in this thread too, Must look at weather and investigate first.

Cool
I was wondering about it for the Belfast marathon on 5 May 2008 - there is a 9 mile walk (ok not exactly half but still seems good). I am going to email for info this very moment. We could be half marathon walking buddies

if you can bear to be on tv, try contacting the dytime shows and ask if they can help (ie, pay) for some fitclub style treatment, or even surgery.
hope you improve soon.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Low- and high-carbohydrate weight-loss diets have similar effects on mood but not cognitive performance.
the LowCarbHighFat diet producing greater weight loss than the HighCarbLowFat diet. This finding confirms the results of the previous study and is in accordance with other clinical trials
Both dietary patterns significantly reduced body weight and were associated with improvements in mood. There was some evidence for a smaller improvement in cognitive functioning with the LCHF diet with respect to speed of processing,
Details of the actual amount of weight lost on the diets weren't provided but from the plots it looks like the High carb/low fat dieters lost about 6kg over the 56 days or 3.7 oz daily and the the Low Carbers/high fat lost more around 9kg 5.6 oz daily.
Interesting to compare my weight loss 14lbs over 39 days=5.7 oz/daily so my results seem to be typical.
They say the improvement in mood noticed was the same in both groups and they think it's just the impact of actually being in a study as the improvement in mood took place in the first two weeks before much weight had been lost.
I'm feeling chuffed with myself but that's mainly because I've managed not to mind missing the booze, even went to a put today and didn't buy any alcohol.
I'm surprised they didn't find any improvement in brain function in the Low carb group. I'm certain my mind is sharper and I'm better at decision making. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Right then, Here I am again.
Well I haven't left you all but things have been mega strange and soooo wiered at the moment. I suppose you could say that I have been concentrating on whats not going to happen. Confused? Let me explain.
Before xmas I sprained my ankle quite badly but didnt bother going to see about it as it happens often. but after 6weeks of nothing gettin better and finding it hard to walk I went to the docs. Who then sent me to the physio who then referred me back to the G.P with suspected gout. Thats ok I thought, my dad sufferes with gout badly and my symptoms and foot is nowhere near as painful as his gout so I already know that I haven't got it at this point, but doc orders a blood test. I'm ok with that.
Then 10 days later I get a letter saying that my calcium levels are low and I need to see doc to talk about how to takle the problem. Worried now I go to see him. (as I wrote earlier I was pretty much sure bloods would come back clear) Doc asks for a re-test because sometimes a false reading can be made by leaving the cuff on while drawing blood. Anyway my results got lost, but today they have been found and now in the morning the Doc is going to ring me to discuss them....Why? is there something wrong?
Anyway ontop of that our shed has been broken into, happend last night....BAS!!!DS £600 worth of fishing gear gone. So have had the police and insueres on the fone today.
Buy the worst is yet to come, My daughter is ill tonight and I am such a sh!te mother because this morning when she told me she wasn't well i sent her to school anyway because like other children she likes to try it on on occasion, but not this time. Thig is she didnt come home till 8pm this evening as she has been out to a mates for tea, But she has glands on sticking out of her neck like bl00dy marbles.
I am such a sh!te person,
Oh and Diet? whats that?
By the way my post probably doesn't make sense. for that I appologise.
