I too am suffering from depression and overweight. I'm in quite a bad place mentally at the moment but have decided that as of tomorrow, no matter what I will be out walking the dog for half an hour at least once a day.

I think this will help me feel less self loathing and hopefully less depressed (that and the sig. amount of medication I'm on!!) I can be thiner and happier and that is what I am going to be.

Good luck OP you and all the rest of us who are in the same boat can do it!

Lisa, it's been quite a few years since I did Slimming World, but it used to be that you had an original(meat) or a green day. You didn't have to weigh your food. Here's a link to a sample week's menu.

I think you count points with WW. Someone who's done it will manage to tell you though.

Hello bobsa. Good luck for tomorrow. :)

  • It might be worth taking a look at this website https://www.weightlossresources.co.uk - I used it to help me figure out calorie counting etc...it's £9 a month from memory and has a lot of other resources and forums etc. You can sign up for a 3 day free trial if you like.
  • But would he make me thin? That in its self would be a miracle. Paul McKenna would definalty deserve a huge award for that triamph!

well, i'm doing it at the moment and really determined! the book is very inspiring and makes me feel very confident and even if i have a bad eating day - i don't worry about it and eat healthy the next day :)
it's a bit cheesy but very positive and is working.
if you're depressed/down, a good website (recommended by my GP) is livinglifetothefull.com
    good luck with it all

    hi

well done for making the first step in dealing with the issues you have to tackle.

I have been doing slimming world since Nov and have lost a stone. Nice slow steady weightloss and have never gone hungry, infact I have just had a plate of slimming world chips :)

You can be referred to slimming world by your gp, and it is paid for 12 weeks.

good luck with whatever healthy eating plan you choose to follow :)

I am currently half way through the No Diet Diet - I saw a supplement of part of it in a paper a few weeks ago and thought "I could cope with that, I think." I do think it would be useful for someone who is unhappy as well as overweight - can you order that from the library?

It's also very encouraging in that it says no-one fails on this 'diet', even if we don't complete the four week programme. I can see it wouldn't suit everyone, but it's something you can come back to.

    AND it's not hard ...
