I like most things really just not the basics of what the Gi diet is about. Trust me. I'm ot keen on chicken or turkey either but I do eat it. other than that I like the usuals. Veg, Fruit, meat, pasta, fish. I'm not a fussy eater really. My meals usually involve potatoes.
Yes it does make me terribly unhappy being like this and I have to keep on keeping on even on the dark days. It is a huge challenge and one I want to forful by the time im 30.0 -

Re the Gi diet - I have got some books fom the library (well hubby did) and I have read them but I dont think its a diet I can do. it seems quite expensive and I really dont like bran flakes/allbran I dont like any nuts, and I cant stand wholemeal bread. the diet seems to be based around all of these foods. I don't want to start something I wont finish as i will feel like a failure
Its all so difficult. Even trying to find the right diet is a stuggle at this moment when all I want to do is get the ball rolling.
Maybe I am ment to be like this for the rest of my life, maybe I should get used to it.
Lisa.
With the exercise it's worth commiting yourself to one thing, however small, and trying to create a regular time for it. So promise yourself to do half an hour a day or whatever - often it's about getting yourself out of the house and then you find you can do more.
On the GI thing how do you feel about beans and pulses? They are also low GI and low calorie....but personally I think nothing beats keeping a count of calories - the kind of count that means weighing food and keeping a notebook - and of course eating relatively healthy food (1000 cals of chocolate is not the same as 1000 cals of fruit and veg alas)
Good luck0 -
Hey Poppy, Isn't weightwatchers expensive to join online? I have looked into it but nearly fainted when I saw the £49.99 fee lol.
I was thinkin of gettin some slimming world books of ebay and following them? would that work?0 -
I have looked at my eating habits and while my meal plan seems to be ok(ish) its the binge eating I cant control. E.g Crisps. I can eat and eat and eat them until the cows come home and if I dont buy them in my shopping budget I worry that I wont have nothing to snack, on absolutly redicilous i know.0

But would he make me thin? That in its self would be a miracle. Paul McKenna would definalty deserve a huge award for that triamph!0 -
Hiya Lisa. I know how you're feeling - believe me! ((hugs)) I can't really give you any advice as i'm in the same boat as you. That would be like, do as I say, not as I do.
I lost 5 stone at Slimming World. Got a bit discouraged as the weightloss slowed down and gave up. I think deep down i've got it in my head i'm not good enough to be anything other than fat. That's just pathetic. The Slimming World plan is a good one though and it works. It's my brain that needs sorting out lol I feel quite sick sometimes when i'm doing it. It's like punishing myself for something - but I don't know what.
Whatever you do, don't go on the VLC diets, like the Cambridge or Lighter Life. I did that. Lost 3 stone in 2 months, cost a fortune and I ended up with gallstones!
Do you know any of your triggers for your eating? One of mine is sitting at the computer. Yet I still do it.0 -
I have the Paul McKenna book. I listened to it a few nights, but you're supposed to do it all the time. I need to get round to listening to it again. I also bought his book on how to change your life in 7 days, that's still lying in a bag. I need to get myself round to reading my stop procrastinating book!0

I dont think its the way forwards is it? I'm not looking to crash diet and I too dont think I could manage the cardboard chocolate taste, or any of the other flavours come to think of it.
the Low GI diet sounds good, I like the sound of being energetic and of course losing weight, maybe I will look into this.
Thanks all for your kind suggestions!!
Hi Lisa,
I think you've got the right idea with the low GI diet. It does work and even if followed a "little loosely" you will lose weight.
Sadly I put back on the stone I lost on it after my Mum died and I've put more on on top of that now, so maybe I will be joining you!
Good luck in whatever you try. I'm not sure of my exact BMI but I'm sure it will be over 30 by now.:wave:0 -
Hi again lisa, PM me with your address if you want and i will post all the leaflets, guides and a few trackers that i have and also a few of the weight watchers mags and you can see if weight watchers is for you. I dont see weight watchers as a diet at all its just a way of changing your eating habits for life. I still eat crisps but instead of having a pack of walkers crisps which are 2 points (im on the points plan and am allowed 19 points a day, you will have more than that to start with tho, i think i had 23 when i first started) i have walkers french fries which are only 1 point. I have what i want to eat as long as i more or less stick to those points each day. you just learn to balance it out throughout the day and week. I hardly ever feel hungry now although at the beginning i did for the first 2 weeks while your body adjusts to its new way of eating.
I have just had a large meal consisting of half a giant yorkie full of veggies and mashed potato with gravy and am stuffed now!! All for just 4 points, i am a veggie but even so 2 slices of chicken or turkey would only another point to this meal.0
