Afternoon everyone
Yes it is afternoon here. Had a lie in today. DH is now changing the strip lights under the kitchen cupboards as the original ones we had in are now not made, and the replacement tubes were only 2€ less than a new larger complete unit, then the replacements will be cheaper IYKWIM. One in place accompanied by the usual curses, but he's still in a good mood, yet!
Glad you found some sunshine, you are so right about it making you feel better. Mrs_M, P-Pin You two OK, as you are not saying a lot, which makes me think you probably are not!
Welcome newbies. (((((Hugs))))) all round.

Washing machine is churning away and DH has done the dishes.
Have a pot of tea beside me and have just renewed a load of books to sell on Amazon.
Will make salmon steaks with asparagus for a late lunch and want to have a browseto look for cheap London Deals as I want to treat DD(14) as it is half term.
Spent yesterday in Newcastle and took laptop to DD(18).
We had lunch in "Ask" and enjoyed it.
The weather being better has cheered me up - now all we want is to sell the house and find one that we like.

Sola, I’m sorry the retreat wasn’t what you’d hoped for.
Churchmouse, hope things pick up for you and yours soon and that ds finds somewhere he likes.
Welcome to studentgirl, cruiksl and gilligansyle.
Shez, it’s rotten when kids take you for granted isn’t it.
Happy Birthday to the smallest Gingham Ribbon…I can’t believe it’s been a year since he was born! :bdaycake:
I’ve been a busy bee this weekend…it’s my weekend on, well it’s not really but they were looking for volunteers to cover, and as my MIL who lives in London is visiting I thought it would get me off side for a while. Only so that she can [STRIKE]bore Mr Pink to tears instead of me[/STRIKE] spend some quality time with her son of course.
I’ve been doing lots of Old Styling (usually when I’m working the weekend I don’t bother much) but I’ve been cleaning and cooking like a mad thing! I don’t know why, but even after 28 years I still feel I need to prove that I’m worthy of her son. Perhaps if we lived closer to one another and only saw each other in small doses we’d have a better relationship.
Roast leg of lamb for tea followed by raspberry pavlova.
Best get a move on or I’ll be late for my mid-day calls, catch up with you all later.

Morning all (just),
Up early this am with DGS1 who was looking for her Mammy...who had gone to visit some friends last night, not back until around 2 pm...got up at 7.30 and now have fed her, emptied DW, done 15mins weeding and made a batch of crumpets and nearly forgot...hoovered the living room, so feeling quite proud of myself, off to have a shower in a few minutes.
Dinner tonight is pizza, going to make dough in a bit and the topping...chorizo, prosciutto, tin tomatoes sliced onions sugar and rosesmary, simmering for a couple of hours then spread on base and topped with mozzarella...there is soup for anyone who is feeling really hungry. Pudding will be fruit and ice-cream.
Moggins...ouch!
Shez...demand all out of pocket expenses, hand over ticket/s and let GF sell them on ebay or wherever....never make social arrangements with my brood unless I am the guest!
Welcome to newbies, will get your names after a while...senility.
Csarina...hope that you are better to-day...do you ever think of resting a little?
Mary...hugs to your nephew and family...sometimes bad things roll into one...will never forget 1987 for too many reasons.
Tired mum...think long and hard about emigrating if you are more than 35...I have a friend who went to Australia when she was in early 40s and says that she has no problems with the country or lifestyle but misses her friends dreadfully. If you are younger...go for it, it is no longer a lifetime commitment and if you can manage to hang on to even a studio apartment in the UK you won't have that feeling of being stuck if you are not happy....good luck
Have a good day all...is now afternoon as I have had several interruptions!

Afternoon all
Hope everyone is ok, haven't tme to read the thread now because DD has a party to go to at 1pm so i'll catch up later. (((hugs))) to anyone who needs them today.
As i said DD is at a party at 1pm, OH is playing footy with his work team so when i've dropped DD off i'll have a wander in town, i have quite a few £££'s worth of Boots points so i want to get a few bits for jellybean.
I already managed to get a TT steriliser with 3 bottles for £25 from £40, a TT breast pump for £10 from £25 and a Johnsons box full of toiletries for £10 down from £30 at Asdas big baby event a few weeks ago so i've made a good start. Am also awaiting a reply about a baby rocker chair for sale through another site, £15 instead of the £40 in Mothercare. My aim is not to buy anything new unless i get it at a discount price and to buy the rest from ebay/loot etc (barring car seat and cot mattress)
Seeing as my microwave broke yesterday  we'll not be having the usual bacon and eggs for dinner today, it's just scrambled eggs on toast for OH when he gets back from footy (at least 6 eggs  ) and DD will get fed at the party. I'm doing a roast for tea which my mam says i can put the chicken in her oven thank god and all the veg can be boiled/steamed so thats ok.
Have a good day all, i'll catch up properly later

Afternoon all.....................(((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need one........
The evil thing is still with me................I have one days tablets left.........so unless there is a dramatic improvement I can see myself back at the surgery.
We went out for a short walk this morning, since I got back I have embroidered a sympathy card for the head honcho at the sheltered housing office......she lost her mother last week...........
I have to but the breadmaker on this afternoon, prepare supper, roast chicken and all the trimmings............then I want to put the last 2 borders on the play mat and get it layered up ready to quilt.
Our newest resident is, to say the least, a little queer.............she is cooking in the microwave in the communal kitchen and eating in the sitting room. Apparently she cleaned the sitting room last week, despite the fact that we have a cleaner, and this afternoon she came to the door asking for gardening tools so she can do the garden!!!!!!!! she does not seem to grasp the fact that we have gardeners to do that..............and she is getting up everyones nose one way or another. Last night she was in and out more frequently than a fiddlers elbow.........slamming the door everytime...........the night before she went out at 11.20pm and I heard her come back just after 3am, I don't think she was going clubbing.................. makes you wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right I am off to put the BM on and prep the supper......................Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Good afternoon everyone
Last night's chinese went really well - we had a lovely time but i am not used to staying up late and feel really tired today.
Got lamb in the oven for our roast today - it smells delish!!! DH wants to watch the footie later so we will be having an early tea.
Kids are all sat down doing their homework at the moment so its lovely and quiet!!! Off out early tomorrow morning as we have to be at the dentists for 8.20am but couldnt get myself and eldest daughter in so will talk to them face to face when we go and perhaps i can get more sense out of them!!
Hope everyone has a lovely sunday

Thanks. I think we all have 'years to remember', and if we're not careful we sit back waiting for the next 'bad' thing to happen instead of getting on with the good bits in between.
Chatting to him we both went through all the 'positive and good' things, past and present, and once we started there were loads that we'd both almost forgotten. So easily done.Mary

Afternoon all.
Just a quick one today as we've got the royal visit tonight (parents taking us out for tea). Trying to make it so that it doesn't look like we live in a pig sty.;)
Feeling slightly guilty because I think its my fault that we're being taken out for tea. Mum asked what our plans for the weekend, and I said nothing because we're skint. I think that may have persuaded her that we still need looking after, which wasn't my aim at all.
Was up half the night worrying about our lack of fundage. Apparently DH was too so we must have been worrying in shifts! (Certainly he was snoring while I was panicking..:o )
BM is on, WM has just finished, and I might get DH to hang the clothes out instead of putting the TD on. (DH says that by using initials it makes him sound like another kitchen apliance. I said thats because he is!!!)
We still can't think of ways to make any more money. DH is going to see if we are eligable for a carers allowance or working tax credit, but thats about it. I think we're going to have to seriously look around and see what we can eBay. I don't like doing it, but needs must. Its another week and a half til payday.
Ah well, better go and get tidying. Hugs to all, and hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.
