Ordered mine on Monday - money taken out, got letter this morning. Not happy with their "offer". If they'd bunged in a £10 voucher or something I would let it go but....
I think we should get together and make a complaint with as many of those involved as we can - strength in numbers and all that. What does everyone think?
I've had the letter this morning too and although it was to be expected as the outcome I can't say I'm too impressed with either the way they have dealt with it or the tactics that are used for marketing.
I've not had a phone call and have just checked my messages and call log.
The problem for me is that up to yesterday I still do not have a payment showing on my statement which would mean it would be very difficult to prove that monies have been transferred and payment accepted so my case is weak at best and non existant at worst.
As far as strength by numbers is concerned that is very true, but the likes of B&Q would rather fight just one large case rather than lots of small ones up and down the country. It is very costly and time consuming to send their legal reps all around the place rather than just employ one specialst one time at one court.
It waould seem that B&Q might also have fallen foul on another aspect with this item in regard to the origional price they sated in the offer ie. we would save a massive £5241.89 from the origional price of £5599 !!!
From what I can see this has never been on sale at this price ever and the highest price I've found was £3999, these sort of misleading tactics are very much frowned upon should it come to the attention of the OFT.
It's not just about the money

Just found details on how to contact them and submit your story. You can either use the form supplied, or they give an e-mail/postal address to send to, at this link:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tv_and_radio/watchdog/contact_index.shtml

It says to ensure you send photocopies of any paperwork (when posting) so I recon if you dont want to write, its best to e-mail them rather then use the foru. That way you can scan the letter you have received, plus any other documents you have (like I printed off the receipt and have a screen shot of the offer on an out-side website directing you to the B&Q site for the item at that price). Dont forget to give details of any telephone conversations too, if poss with details of the person you spoke to.

    Hope they can help us!

  • There's also Consumer Direct for advice (phone/email)

B&Q may have helped our case by telling us we can still order the item, i.e. not out of stock or no longer available.

I also have a feeling that the item is still at its 'Big Sale' price on the website system. How long does it take to update an 'obvious' mistake? Anyone want to order one at our special discounted price of £3179 and see what comes up on B&Q's screen?

I've just had a look on the B&Q website, and they no longer have the item advertised for sale (in brown or green). So if they dont have it advertised for sale any more, how can they offer them to us for the discounted price? OR have they withdrawn them from sale to give us first dibs, because they think all of these people who ordered originally are going to find the 10% off so irresistable loads of these are going to be re-ordered? pmsl
  • ive summitted it too........ its surprising wot pmt makes u do. lol
Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out - but I can usually shut her up with cake!
  • Haylhoo - Don't send copies if reporting by email it say

"It would be very helpful to know if you have any of the following, but do not send them until we contact you."

They just want to know you have the documentation at this stage.

Okay, thanks!! Havent had a chance to read through it all yet ;)

I know this has already been posted, but to anyone who hasnt already, have a look at this link and click on 'price history' below the pic:

    http://www.twenga.co.uk/offer/98611920.html

I find this so funny. Did they put the price up at the end of last month to make a huge profit, or was that yet another price 'error'? :rotfl:
  • I have been reading the posts and indeed ordered a Garden room on Saturday, same as you guys, have the letter and the phone call etc, now you may think this is a silly idea but I seem to remember somebody had actually called B&Q to check the price, (bad move possibly and I cant find the post now), but surely that would add weight to our case ??, if they actually called and were told that it was priced correctly and was the same on all the listings they had ?. Anyway, I will email Watchdog as well, but I dont think we will get far, legal expert I am not just cynical.
