  • Alas the dream is over. My brass was returned this morning.

    Still no call from B&Q though... I'm feeling quite left out!!

    Now what to put in the 9ft' x 9ft' ditch in my garden .... an ideas :confused: ?

    Was soooo hoping to put my mother-in-law in there when she arrives for her
    annual summer stay. Oh well...:o
  • Had no phone call, but in this mornings post I have a letter from b&q. Basically thanking me for my order but unfortunately they mistakenly showed the price as £357 instead of £3579.10.

    'As part of our terms and conditions we reserve the right to refuse to supply any product at our discretion. As a result of the regrettable but obvious mistake your order for a palladium gr3 garden room has been cancelled.'

    Now for the good bit:- 'As a gesture of goodwill we would like however to offer you the opportunity to purchase a palladium gr3 garden room with a further 10% discount for the price of £3179.'

    Generous or what!!!!!!!!!

    "Thank you for ordering Palladium Garden room....Whilst we take all reasonable precautions to ensure that all prices are accurate, on rare occasions mistakes may occur. Unfortunately, we mistakenly showed the price of the Palladium GR3 Garden Room as £357.11 instead of its correct price of £3579.10.

    As part of our Terms and Conditions we reserve the right to refuse to supply any product at our discretion. As result of the regrettable but obvious mistake, your order for a Palladium GR3 Garden Room has been cancelled.

    The value of your order (including delivery charges) has been refunded.

    As a gesture of goodwill, we would however like to offer you the opportunity to purchase a Palladium GR3 Garden Room with a further 10% discount for the price of £3179. This offer is open for 21 days...."

    Why not offer a £10/£20 voucher of any purchase that would have eased my disapointment. Come on B&Q get those vouchers sent out otherwise I'm heading over to Homebase as at least they had a decent pre-Christmas sale on their Christmas decorations - wow what bargains I got that day!

  • Ok, day 6 and still no contact from B&Q for me at least.

    There seems to be a few key questions that need to be addressed (and I'm not even going to quote selected T&C's this time!)

    1) When some people called B&Q after ordering to check the availability and price they were told by B&Q that yes, the price was correct as it was part of the sale, there were no problems with the order and that the company would be in contact about the delivery. If the price was an obvious mistake why didn't B&Q staff flag this up for checking with their superiors and instead continue to take orders? This was a perfect time where they could refuse to supply orders.

    2) Orders were taken online, by phone and in store. Were customers whose orders were taken by phone made aware of the T&C's applicable to the order as they should have been?

    3) What is the course of action for orders taken in store? If you bought a can of paint, could B&Q call you up 5 days later and say there was a misprice and ask for it back even if it was on your wall by then?

    4) Why couldn't B&Q use a better stock/ordering system which automatically flags up an unusual event and suspends sales on that product? For instance, if B&Q sell an average of 5 of an item in a day, have the system alert the powers that be if, say, more than 3 times this number is sold. If this was in place it would limit the damage caused by any mistake.

    5) If most orders were completed online, why couldn't they send an email within 24/48 hours of the 'obvious' mistake being found to make customers aware? As some people haven't heard of a problem yet, imagine the amount of preparation work that could have been completed since the time of order.

    Feel free to add / criticise any of the above. It's just a few thoughts on the matter and I appreciate others may have a different view.

    A word of warning.... £3179 could be an obvious misprice... don't get your hopes up! :cool:

    Oh no! I was actually joking when I posted this, but looking in detail...

    If the correct price is £3579.10 and they are giving an extra 10% off, doesn't this come to £3221.19 and not £3179???? :rotfl:

    It may take a while to find someone in B&Q who knows what they are doing at this rate!
