Not sure Chelsea will be taken over as it is one of the richest ones left

Out of interest then, how much do you have in each of these?

Ive got a stack of cash doing not-a-lot at the mo. I did have a reg saver with the yorkshire, but Im not adding to it at the mo due to an admin mess-up courtesy of moi! but theres a few hundred in there, has been there for over a year.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Generally £100 in each, a few have slightly higher min. balance i.e. Stroud and Swindon is £250. About 12 are monthly savers, which I then withdraw once per year (generally early April) and then put this in an ISA

and is 100 enough then to carpet bag? oooooooooooooh

I thought you had to prove you are a committed saver with them IYSWIM

If not I can stick 100 in each one I suppose just in case! Lets face it my cash isnt doing much at the moment.

You can generally open accounts with less, but need £100 for voting (and windfall) rights. With interest rates low and coming down over the next few months. I honestly think it is well worth doing.

  • My husband has West Bromwich and we both have Nationwide (via Staffordshire and Portman, so got two windfalls from that already!:T ).

But in the past we have had Bradford and Bingley, Birmingham Midshires, and the AA, all of which demutualised/merged and we got windfalls from these although that was not the reason we joined them.:D

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
