B & Q were selling me the swing set for £68 (original price £259) and the cheapest alternative I can find is £230 so I cannot afford to purchase one at that price and then try to fight my case!!!

I know it's not much help, but B and Q are still selling the metal swing sets in store for £30
    Think it's this one.

Yes moglie I also received the email from TS saying to claim for loss of bargain we have to purchase another item then claim the difference. Not sure what I can do about this as B & Q were selling me the swing set for £68 (original price £259) and the cheapest alternative I can find is £230 so I cannot afford to purchase one at that price and then try to fight my case!!!

There is some dispute about whether this is accurate advice. Do not be put off going through the small claims court because of this advice. The whole point is the item was a bargain that you could afford.
Alot of us have changed our garden layout, or sold or passed on old play equipment to make way for new equipment, so e have encountered losses in that respect already.
You have to be able to show the market value of an item. Well you can do that by showing web pages of items available surely?

    Though we may be wrong....

Oh my gosh! The ITV local news rang me early this afternoon, said they had seen the article in The Mirror, and asked if they could come round to interview me about the B&Q situation for this evening's programme. Cue me running frantically around the house for the next hour tidying up and panicking about how fat I was going to look on the tv!

Anyway, I'm sure I spoke way too fast and I completely forgot to mention mse.com during the interview, which I am kicking myself about. I did mention it to their reporter before she started filming, though, and she seemed very interested in the site as a whole, so perhaps that's something for the future.

I have also just had the Gloucestershire Echo on the phone wanting to run a story. I am truly gobsmacked at the response, and would suggest that everyone here contact their local press and refer to the piece in the Mirror. Tell them that the same thing has happened to you, and see if they will pick it up on your behalf.

Ooh, I need a stiff drink now...

    I've got a headache...

Finally after nearly 3 weeks I got a letter with £20 of vouchers and a half hearted apology. It was sent by Lisa Coleman of the Chief Executive's office. Vouchers will be sent back tomorrow and at the weekend I will prepare my small claim's court application....
  • oh i missed it frogling!!!!!

Thats even more interesting....i'm pretty sure i had a choice between the matterhorn and the ben nevis when they called on Sunday...i have nothing to prove this though, it would just be my word against theirs.

Also had a call offering me a Ben Nevis if I paid the difference (as I had a smaller playcentre ordered) and that I would know if I was getting it around mid September. So I'm just confirming what Angelag has said already and can confirm her statement.

Still, even if they source a Ben Nevis for me, we still have to get the damn thing through B&Q stupid warehouse and no doubt, it will go out of stock again before getting to me. Or am I just sounding picky!.

I missed half of it myself, thanks to my youngest unplugging the tv and video at the start of the report! So, if anyone out there recorded it, please can I have a copy? Apparently Central News no longer have the resources to send a copy out to people, so I won't get to see it in full unless someone out there has recorded it.

So we've been offered the Ben Nevis and the person who actually wanted the Ben Nevis has been offered nothing...it gets better and better.
