excellent work frogling. As I already said, B+Q have done nothing to minimise customer loss, by communicating the error as soon as they were aware. This fact has left them exposed, and as a result this is why I'll be taking it to the small claims.

By the way they have since offered a similar product to one of the items on my order....and at the same time told me as that it was more expensive i would need to pay an extra £4.50.....and they tried to make it sound like they were doing me a favour. And this came after they had put the new customer service measures in place.

Sorry Angelag, I did not realise that they had offered an alternative item to you. What was it for if you don't mind me asking? Cheeky expecting you to pay the difference too. Can you imagine the uproar if tesco made you pay the extra when adding subs to your order.

I don't mind you asking me at all!!! I ordered the Mont Blanc on the 15th..order vanished..had a call on Sunday offering me the matterhorn, they said they had a small stock of those coming in on the 12th September. Fantastic as the kids will be back at school then.

I was speaking to a guy "of the record" on another forum who asked me what my problem was with B+Q as he worked in deliveries. I told him the situation and he said that this was huge mistake by B+Q and that they were trying to source stock from Germany for delivery in September...I wonder if they have managed this then.
  • oh interesting!
we ordered the ben nevis, then they offered the matterhorn, and then both offers withdrawn!
so they are still promising the matterhorn?!

I would not hold your breath. Don't know about back at school, they will probably have left school by the time B&Q admit their c**k up.

Thats even more interesting....i'm pretty sure i had a choice between the matterhorn and the ben nevis when they called on Sunday...i have nothing to prove this though, it would just be my word against theirs.
  • I've read B&W's full reply to the Mirror (Frogling, #838). Still not the truth.

They said: "A systems failure over the opening offer weekend of 16/17 July compounded the problem" (of underestimating demand).

I saw the bargains that weekend, spoke with my wife and on 18 July tried to order - ""Out of stock". Fair enough.

Checked again on 19 July and back in stock so ordered.

Meanwhile the article in Computer Weekly two days ago (which could have been written by B&Q themselves, so gentle it is!) talks of failures in both their ordering system and credit card payment system (which I'm assuming is why I received order confirmation without my card being debited).

    The truth is out there...

    Hi

Well I have just had my missing turret for the McKinley delivered today. However it was accompanied by another slide, another rope walk, another whole tower too!

Yes moglie I also received the email from TS saying to claim for loss of bargain we have to purchase another item then claim the difference. Not sure what I can do about this as B & Q were selling me the swing set for £68 (original price £259) and the cheapest alternative I can find is £230 so I cannot afford to purchase one at that price and then try to fight my case!!!
