  • You can quote mathamatics till you are blue in the face it is never that simple, moron drivers will be moron drivers, people who dislike bikers will still dislike bikers, and everyone will think that they are in the right.

Its human nature, notice how everyone on this board thinks they are right and there is every chance that if we were all on the same road together we would all be criticising everyone elses driving and saying its wrong.

So on that note does anyone else have any pet hates or peeves on the road.:D

Lol markets junction, coming passed the waterfront turning right towards ormeau road.... the left hand lane splits into two lanes just at the traffic lights. But people in the outside coming round the corned drive as if this was not the case. They get very made when I block them even when the evidence is right against them (i.e. they have crossed a 'lane dividing' line while I have not, they went around the corner with their indicators indicating left (as if realising they are in the wrong lane) and also they always go around their watching the traffic in the other lane, again indicating they know that they are in the wrong!

I have got to the point now that I intentionally try and scare people off. If the start mouthing off or making guestures, I'll wind my window down and shout at them or even open the door as if to get out. Id not actually do it, but people fairly run!

  • If only life were so easy and idealistic ... the traffic can queue back from Tillysburn to Palace Barracks and if you are in the outside lane then you will find nobody will let you in .. all the small minded nobodies take the attitude 'not getting in in front of me' and close up any gaps therefore you have no choice but to move on up the traffic .. or possibly stop in what can still be fast moving traffic (not exactly safe).

The last time this happened to me I simply forced my way in (company car, I don't care what happens it, I just get a new one) with the car behind me blasting the horn so I stopped and let the equally long queue of traffic in the third lane all come past and in front of me .. the chap behind was banging his steering wheel with rage. :rotfl: :rotfl:

If you see a car with an indicator on then let it in .. it ill only take about 2 seconds out of your life ... the exception is 4x4's ... even I hate being stuck behind them.

Sorry, but i come out of the Harbour Estate going towards Tillysburn/Knocknagoney & I am damned if i'm letting anyone fly up the outside then cut in. Everyone knows the rules by now at that junction, and it may only cost me two seconds, but you're not considering the 10 minutes i've been stuck in that queue that you have just flew past - Get in early at the Esporta bridge or dont get in at all (except when i'm in a hurry & i'll try it on too!!!!)

And as for the Ikea junction - habits are hard to break - IKEA doesnt open til 10am, so i'm going down the left hand lane & heading towards Sainsbury's (its the second exit on the left, so i'm entitled to) And on leaving i'm going in the right hand lane and turning left, cos the left lane is for Bangor, the right lane is for Belfast - it may not be right, but thats what everyone else does * until they do the bollards thing like the Tillysburn junction, you arent going to change this.

That's my point, on a few occasions I have come through the lights in the third lane, seen there was a problem and tried getting into the middle lane (even before Esporta) .. but nobody will let you in, so you have no choice but to keep going in the third lane making even more drivers throw hissy fits ... they are just reaping what they sow.

I was driving along the motorway last night.

I wont incriminate myself but I was doing a lick over the speed limit and overtaking cars on the inside lane.

Some !!!! came right up behind me. Bear in mind I was already over the limit.

They didnt just flash their main beam but left the full bean on for ages.

My car will do 140mph (allegedly) so I put on my rear fog light to blind him in return.

He started weaving from side to side with the hazards on, I didnt move. Im not going to be intimidated by such morons.

I eventually came to my turn off, indicated left and pulled into the inside lane, he drew level with his interior light on and did some jesture with his hand and wrist. I would have reported the moron but his number plate was completely blackened with dirt.

Yeah you know who you are in the Dark VW passat estate travelling on the M2 north bound

Why didn't you just pull into the inside lane and let him past. The outside lane is an overtaking lane. When you overtook the other slower cars you should have returned to the inside lane. It's not your job to police the speed other drivers go at especially when you admit you couldn't stick to the speed limit yourself.

With his hazard lights on it's possible that person could have had an emergency and you sat there holding him back just because "you weren't going to be intimidated by such morons"

I am afraid you will find that the right hand turn (second exit as you call it) is a single lane exit. So unless you propose that the inside lane entering the roundabout is designed only to be for people who wish to go right around the roundabout, i think your arguement falls flat on its face. Furthermore, I believe that there are lane markings at the top of the bridge indicating what I say.

Put another way, if you collide with someone who has used the inside lane and turned right, could you convince the judge that, based on which lanes you were both in, he was more at fault? I strongly doubt it....

  • My main bugbear is with drivers who park too far up on the pavement so that I can't get past with a single buggy never mind a double one. I can understand that drivers don't want to clog up the roads when they park and may wish to park 'just' on the pavement but what's the sense in forcing someone pushing a buggy out onto the road. The best of it is that this regularly happens around schools. Now come one, these are parents who may have at-one-time-or-another had to push a buggy themselves, SO THINK BEFORE YOU PARK TOO FAR ON THE PAVEMENT!! I would love to put leaflets on cars parked in this way 'PAVEMENTS ARE FOR PEDESTRIANS' but maybe I would be prosecuted for littering? Don't get me started on the dog mess.............
  • A little consideration goes a long long way:D

I was thinking the same too. sort of reminds me of the time there was an accident in the place I worked (eye injury) and, since I was the only person with a car that day I was asked to rush the person to hospital .... so off I went totally ignoring speed limits and then dibble flashed me over ... I leaned out of the car window gave the policeman my wallet (which had my driving licence in it) and simply said 'hospital' before taking off again (leaving him standing there). The police car came flying past me with blues'n'twos and gestured for me to follow him. We got to the hospital in double quick time and a nurse was waiting at the door for us (they had radioed ahead). we will never know for sure but apparently if we had not got there as quickly as we did the chap could have lost his sight.

The policeman then gave me a bit of a telling off .. but no ticket ;) If others want to speed then i let them, I just get out of the way

    Please!!!

I was consistantly overtaking cars that were on the inside lane. As I already stated........ I was above and beyond the speed limit (I wont incriminate myself by saying how much) Yet this moron didnt flash the lights politely, but sat right up my pipe and kept his full beam on constantly.

He flashed his hazards out of rage, as he knew he wasnt quick enough to overtake me. Picture the scene, his main beam on for about 30secs.

Where does it say in the highway code that when a vehicle approaching from behind with its hazards on is in an emergency?

Plus you wouldnt see the emergency services slowing down, drawing level and giving the hand and wrist jesture with his light on so I could see him.

This guy was a grade A moron.

There are just so many of them! I am awaiting the day I see one of them crash. I will endeavour to stop, gloat and then wait for the police at which point I will describe the behaviour of the idiot.
