  • Driving home on Saturday night, 2am, down the Belfast-Newtownards dual carriageway. Temperature -3C. Car overtook me flying down the outside lane at over 100mph.

When approaching the Albert Bridge from the Albertbridge Road please remember that it is NOT the bus/bike lane which ends, the "middle" lane merges with the bus lane, not the other way around. There are TWO signs indicating this, but most drivers seem to ignore them thinking they have right of way to drive onto the bridge when in fact it is the buses/bikes which have right of way.

    Please!!!

I was consistantly overtaking cars that were on the inside lane. As I already stated........ I was above and beyond the speed limit (I wont incriminate myself by saying how much) Yet this moron didnt flash the lights politely, but sat right up my pipe and kept his full beam on constantly.

He flashed his hazards out of rage, as he knew he wasnt quick enough to overtake me. Picture the scene, his main beam on for about 30secs, to which I floored it and left him for dust. I then slowed down again and he again tried to get my attention by weaving side to side with the hazards on.

Where does it say in the highway code that when a vehicle approaching from behind with its hazards on is in an emergency?

Plus you wouldnt see the emergency services slowing down, drawing level and giving the hand and wrist jesture with his light on so I could see him.

This guy was a grade A moron.

Why didnt you just pull over? Who are you to judge his motives for wanting past you? Also, personally, i'd rather have someone like that in front of me than on my back bumper.

As I read it, that would have meant pulling into a lane of slower moving traffic simply to let this idiot past and then have to pull back out into faster moving traffic. In itself, having to do that is adding another danger. I think most people would continue on their way until it was clear for them to move into the inside lane.

except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.
  • ANOTHER ONE!!!!!

on my way to work today all the way to the motor way, some muppet in a light blue ford focus with his front fogs on with no fog!!!!! I mean come on, give me a break.

Flashed my rear fogs at him at the traffic lights in downshire (carrickfergus) and the gormless numpty didnt do anything just drove behind me all the way to the roundabout.

I did get out of his way before you ask and let him go infront of me but what every way the traffic worked out he still ended up behind me most of the journey!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr:mad:

This is a nice forum for venting my anger.......i feel better already!
  • A little consideration goes a long long way:D

It does and the majority of drivers are fine, but the prats are infuriating . The roads service has recently resurfaced the road I live on. Before, when it was full of potholes and sh*t only the locals used it and the vast majority of drivers were courteous. Now it is used as a rat run. The end I live on is built up and full of children, yet some idiot in an English reg'd BMW overtook me at speed on a blind summit 20 metres from a T junction to the main road. Why??

And while I'm at it, drivers who chuck litter out the window. What's that all about? Why not take it home? I got tooted and gestured by several drivers while taking a piece of broken glass out of my dog's foot at the side of the road. (The stitches came out on Monday. Another £50 I didn't need to spend, grrr)

"As I read it" would be the key phrase there. You're assuming a lot about the circumstances to have drawn that conclusion. Personally, nut job on back bumper flashing lights = pull over and let nut job risk killing himself elsewhere.

I assumed nothing beyond what the poster told me! They were in the outside lane consistently passing slowing moving traffic on the inside.... that is the only information on which i based my view!:p

Dropping into the inside lane for a second or two then out again is not necessarily the highly dangerous maneuvre you're building it up to be though is it? ;)
