My point is, I stood my ground and this Moron knew he had been dropped down a peg or two, he was ripping, hence the jesture and mouthing obscenities.

Perhaps this guy has learnt a lesson in road manners

Yes, that well known hand gesture and wrist movement meaning 'ive learnt my lesson and certainly wont be performing that maneuvre again', and mouthing 'thank you kind sir'..... :rotfl:

Sorry, but you were as bad as each other. One couldnt handle not getting past another car, and the other couldnt handle the prospect of being passed.

If I had that moron up my tailpipe I would have gotten out of his way. Over the limit or not, he was driving dangerously and I would want him as far away from me as possible.

A few years ago my dh was driving up the Malone Road, there was a car parked in the inside lane so he indicated to change lane. There was a man in a van in the outside lane, he floored it to try to close the gap (it was a large gap, not just trying our luck) but dh got in anyway. He nearly had sex with our bumper, followed us into my in laws street, parked at the top of their driveway (at this stage I was on the phone to the police) and hammered on our windows as we sat in the car with our infant daughter. I was absolutely terrified and won't be put in that situation again. There are far too many cases of road rage now and its usually from people who are driving like lunatics and show no consideration for other road users.

Thanks for your comment Girlzmum, but this is the whole problem with NI roads. Not enough traffic cops to deal with people like this.

Instead they are chasing the upright citizen who does 37mph in a 30 zone.

My initial thought was get this madman away from me, thats why I put the foot down. I did get some distance away from him.

I could have carried on, but I slowed down again, it took him some time to catch up and he was still hell bent on sitting up my pipe.

All too often people let others intimidate them on our roads.
  • It is not just intimadation, it is self preservation. I'm talking from experience that people who drive like lunatics, cause the accidents and walk away from them and it's the other party who is left to deal with the consequences of their bad driving.

Dont expect it to change either. Look around you, hardened criminals get soft sentences whilst minor offenders get strict punishment. Lazy people get increasing benefits whilst the rest of us get taxed more heavilty. Careless and stupid people get themselves into huge amount of debt and the savers amongst us lose out in order to bail them out. We live in a country where it does not pay to be a good and sucessful member of society because the government does its best to make everyone as equal as possible. Perhaps the actions are starting to head towards communism.

except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.

I suspect my views of 'you get what you deserve' would not be so popular with the masses!

:p I am far from being a Daily Mail reader thank you very much!

Would one rather describe the financial activities of our government as being 'Robin Hood'.... penalising those who have often worked hard and succeeded and giving it to the poor and needy who often have zero intention to take an opportunity even when put right in front of them?

I just have serious issue with socially and intellectually !!!!!! individuals being treated like relative royalty compared to their superiors. Yes, that sounds snobbish, but tough!
