    From BBC NI recently

A Fermanagh driver who admitted killing four people by dangerous driving was caught speeding on the same stretch of road just months after the fatal crash. *********, was also over the drink-drive limit when his car went out of control and hit a tree. ******** ******* ******* ******* died in the crash in July 2006.

The BBC has learned that in October 2006, and on the same stretch of the ******* ******* was stopped by police for speeding.
He was doing more than 65mph, when he was a restricted driver and should not have been doing more than 45mph.

He told police: "I was in a hurry. I'm late for work". It was his second conviction for speeding.

Nothing in life is guaranteed and this is an individual upon whom i would wish death in a nasty accident. Most people have more intellect than a raisin and would learn a thing or two!

  • I fear that the days of doing anything at all one likes in West Belfast may be over. I passed a cop with a hair dryer gun on my way out of belfast, parallel to Boucher road. This section of road bugs the life out of me. It is being worked on heavily and there are frequently pretty sharp changes in direction of the road. Resultantly, it is a 30mph for the time being. But absolute D**kheads feel themselves to be above this so carry on at 60. Before Christmas... one such idiot did so only to realise there was no way he could make the change and went hurtling through the cones and into the work area. 24 hours earlier and there would very likely have been several dead workers.

Anyhow, long and short of it is that I saw a cop patrolling this 30mph section and doing a good trade. So beware if you are one of the inbred morons who frequents this section of road and refuses to heed the signs.

  • Just to add in, people who are driving around looking so hard for somewhere to park that they forget there are other motorists behind them and indeed pedestrians around. The other day as I was walking across a side road a motorist missed me by a couple of inches. Without indicating she had decided to turn in even though I was already halfway across the road. When I shouted 'hey' to let her know I was there she gave me the finger. Lovely huh?

I am more grateful every day that I don't have to commute!

If you had dropped to the ground and screamed.... she would have been singing from a different song sheet.... whether she realised she had missed you or not!

Or maybe he thought you behaved like a w anker?

You know what they say............... You only judge people by your own standards, if anyone was acting like one it may have been your man,, or

Come on, every itteration of your story moves away from your original 'i was already speeding, he put his full beam on, i blinded him back with my fog light, then i sped off in my sports car', to now your a peoples hero helping bad drivers to see the wrong in their ways in their rep mobiles, that plainly arent as fast as your car.

'every itteration of your story moves away from your original' .......Did the judge ask you that at your last conviction? :p like I said, I wont incriminate myself by posting my speed. Plus it doesnt help when you have minced my words.

Maybe if you werent speeding in the first place, it would have been safe to do so?

Seriously mate, by your own admission you were speeding already, some bloke came up behind you and you sped off, so much so that it took him ages to catch up.

    Hardly responsible behaviour.

I was driving to suit the road conditions, volume of traffic, whatever else. As pointed out by another poster, it would be safer to sit at 80mph on a Motorway than do 37mph in a 30 zone.

Since when did this place become so nanny state?
  • Why do some parents fasten their own seatbelts and insist on letting little johnny free to roam the back seat because he doesnt like wearing a seatbelt.

...and there was me thinking I was the only one on our roads surrounded by twits.

I was considering opening a shop just selling car light bulbs as I felt I would do a roaring trade seeing as so many people were driving around with faulty non-operational indicators, faulty headlights that don't come on at dusk or even later into the evening, brake lights that came on at the last minute 10 yards before a junction or not at all, fog lights that remained on permanently even on bright well lit sunny days and over stretched headlights that were running within one inch of their peak brightness, I think they are called the 'I'm a stupid **** because I think I'm smart in blinding every motorist on the road' bulbs.

Oh and then of course you have the neon blue windscreen washer jet lights that dazzle you so badly that you almost career off the road, the undercar lighting which helps you see potholes before they appear, the Blackpool illuminations that truckers feel a need to display on dark country roads and the really bad imitation Xenon lights that look like a badly washed out blue rinse perm that your Granny would have had in the 70's.

...and then there are the exhausts, people taking the wrong lane at roundabouts and sticking to that same lane all the way round whilst putting other peroples lives at risk, the idiots that are scared to move in from the outside lane on the motorways in case another gap to fit their mini metro in fails to ever appear in the outside lane again, the 30mph country road drivers that speed up to 70mph every time there is a straight section preventing overtaking, Tractors that have a competition to see how many cars thay can hold up on non-passable 20 mile sections of road..... maybe I should stop there!
