I was trying to see what Calgary looks like but it seems its not available on Wickes website?0 -
Hope this works....

I'm going to order mine today and I have to decide whether to have two 75mm spacer fillets either side of the 900mm drawers or whether to have the drawers off centre and have an extra 150mm unit at the side which will fill the space in perfectly but as there is already a 150 unit either side, then this means one side will have one unit and the other will have 2.
I hate things that dont balance but I also hate wasting possible usable space. 75mm either side is quite a size and the fillers might look too big and really noticeable.
Oh I cant wait for this to be over!
Btw...in case anyone wonders the same thing as I did......the Wickes Tiverton range is basically the same as the Calgary with only very slight differences. Wickes let me take home a Calgary display door and also a Tiverton to compare the colour in my own kitchen to see how the light etc affected them.
They are both solid oak frames and are of the same quality. There is a slight difference in colour and grain....in my opinion the Calgary just had the edge over the Tiverton as it just looked more like wood, the Tiverton looked a little more like a very good 'wood like' laminate when you compared the 2 doors side by side. The Tiverton is also a little more of a pale honey yellowish shade whereas the Calgary is more of a pale brownish oak shade.
Obviously the handles are different too (the Calgary are longer and stainless steel whereas the Tiverton are steel colour and on the door sample I brought home, the Tiverton handle was scratched and had a small chip out of it), but that wasn't a concern for me as they are easily changed anyway.
The Calgary is much more expensive for things like plinth etc. Is the extra cost for the Calgary worth it? Not in my opinion. If I had only seen the Tiverton, I would have bought it. However seeing one range against the other, I just like the Calgary better and my moneysaving priciples have gone out the window.(Which is why I have no budget left for decent worktops, lol.)

Was wondering if anyone's had any joy shaving more than the 40% off the Wickes kitchens? As I said, like zebidee1 fancy Calgary but it will work out several hundred pounds more than many of the other ranges ... if we could get, say, 50% off it, that would swing it! Interesting zebidee1 your comments about Tiverton - maybe I should ring up the sales woman and ask for a price on that one ...0

I'm getting an extra 10% off over and above the sale price and a free dishwasher. I think it depends on a) how much you spend and b) if they think they are getting a firm order but are about to lose it..........:D
I had been in several times to see them instore so they knew I was serious about a possible purchse....just keep at them.0 -
We're just finishing our Wickes kitchen and to be honest it was pretty easy, not too expensive and looks great.
One bit of advice, their appliances are horrendously overpriced (i.e double the highstreet), but they will price match. So use a comparison site, or to make it easier somebody like sainsburys appliances (almost the cheapest everytime for us), make a list of the appliances and the prices you could get them for and let Wickes know. We saved an extra £700 doing this!!!0 -
@ zebidee1
Thanks for the link mate, BTW what is the total cost of your kitchen which warrants extra 10% and a free dishwasher?
cheers
The dishwasher is free with a spend of £1500 plus (I think that's the figure I was quoted....it seems like many quotes ago now, lol.)
I dont know how much exactly you need to spend to get extra discount...my quote has gone from £4k - £10k depending on how often I changed my mind over things and the 10% was always included. My last (and likely final) quote is £6,500 but we have used every inch of available space and got units all round the kitchen ......and we've gone for one or two that were more fancy (therefore expensive) than practical, lol.
I could have got the kitchen for probably half that in Ikea, but I prefer the Wickes doors tbh and the solid unit backs. I didn't buy any of the cabinet inserts like the plastic drawer storage systems as they seemed ridiculously expensive for those and I think Ikea beat them hands down in that department so I'll get Ikea ones instead.
I suspect you could persuade them to give extra discount if you were serious about buying, regardless of the cost of your order maybe.
We got splashbacks for 3 walls to match the (black) worktop too in with the cost, but now I'm home I'm thinking it will be too dark and I might cancel them?
Anyone got black worktop and black splashbacks?0 -
We're just installing our new Calgary kitchen from Wickes. In our opinion Wickes quality was very good, prices reasonable (with 40% discount) and kitchen planner was very good. My wife was sold on the curved corner units which were soooo expensive.
Like other posters here we've gone for Wickes units and Ikea worktops, sink and bits and bobs, making the whole lot affordable.
Wickes offered 0% finance over 2 years saving quite a bit of cash - the good thing is we only start paying once units are delivered.
Disadvantage with Wickes is the lack of flexibility. I can't go back to the store as in Ikea and pick up off the shelf.
Otherwise very happy!0 -
yes they offered us 10% over the already 40% discount on the Calgary and Atlanta kitchens, but we've decided to go with Ikea now anyway. That extra discount wasn't hard to get -- although at first the sales rep refused it, then when he realised we were walking out, he offered it to us.0

Wickes phoned me yesterday with a delivery date.
I should bebut I'm panicking now that my kitchen wont be ready in time and I have nowhere to store everything.
I know I could delay it......but I dont want to. I also kinda wished I'd got a glass door unit too now but I can still order it afterwards I suppose.
Looks like there will be a number of us on here all very busy over the next few weeks.
Good luck to all of you, I'll be wondering if it's all going well with the rest of you when I'm standing trying to support a heavy wall unit and it starts to slip down the wall and the air is turning blue with my OH losing the plot when he cant get it hooked on the brackets. :rotfl:0
