I bought a Dimension 3000 a few months ago and I DID get an XP reinstallation CD - as well as separate discs with all the drivers for screens/printers/Works etc. The facility is there to recover the system using the HD but you could if you want reinstall again from scratch.
HOWEVER - I did buy that machine through the Small Business site, so maybe they have different options depending on the Home/Business purchase route?
And I did read the small print saying Dell would recoup their £70 if you cancelled any part of the order. But I think because I ordered a desktop and a laptop these are split into two orders and Dell can't link them together - so when I cancelled one they didn't remove the £70 discount from both, leaving me with the £70 discount still in place. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

That's possible, I suppose. I've purchased 11 systems, both Dimension and Inspiron, through the Home route over the last 8 months and none of them have come with an XP CD.0 -
Maybe if this one comes without an XP reinstallation CD I'll call them up and ask for one, since they've sent them before with my business order. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0
