1 year collect and return I thought.
I got the 17" monitor (and already had one from a previous Dell deal) and I don't get any ghosting at all - even in online games with fast moving action I don't have any problems.
I know it might sound a stupid question but have you got the monitor set to the correct resolution and refresh rates? The 17" one has to be set to 1280*1024 @60Hz, but don't know about the 19".You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

19" monitors have the same native resolution as 17" ones, the only difference is that you get more screenspace... Really it's a waste of time getting a 19" as you can't use higher resolutions, so you should go for a 20" if you can afford it...No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -
I changed the refresh to 75 yesterday. Obviously I am naive, but I assumed that 75 would be better than 60? How come it isnt?Be nice0

steve9999 wrote:one more question! What's the warranty on the monitors we bought with the PC's...1yr or 3yr?
Cheers
When bought with a PC the monitor is covered under the warranty for that system and as such is treated as a component part of the PC.
Should the two become separated, ie. if you sold either the base unit or the monitor even after a couple of weeks, then the monitor has no warranty at all.0 -
Update on the delivery saga:
I rang Dell first thing - they were full of apologies, promised to chase up the order and ring me back with the info within 3 hours. No phone call, so after work (school) I rang again, more apologies, promised to ring back by 4.30. Just snarling to myself (it's been one of those days with the little darlings!) and making a cup of tea when a van rolled up - YAY! I asked the driver (nicely!) if he'd got lost - only 19 hours late - and he went into a long ramble about too many deliveries, not enough time etc. I did ask why they hadn't rung to inform me, or even to find out if anyone would be home at this time of day, but didn't get an answer that meant anything really. However, it's here now which is the main thing. It'll be interesting to hear what Dell customer services have to say when/if they call back.
Thanks all for your advice, suuport and encouragement! Of course, we've got to get it set up now..........[0 -

Does that make sense to anyone? I just dumped it down and I'm not sure if I explained it very well.
As an aside your brain can't really cope with refresh rates much above 60Hz anyway so setting it higher than that doesn't really give you a lot of benefit. I've been playing Counter-Strike Source on this screen at 60Hz and it works fine for me.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
DS is back from work and ripping open boxes as I write!
. The promised phone call never materialised, but an email arrived telling me I would receive the goods today between 5 and 9. Hoho! Good job I was home early today, I think........
The email also says they will contact me Monday to make sure it has arrived - should I be asking for XP recovery discs at that point (to help make up for stress and inconvenienceor will that be pushing my luck?!

Glad you got it bennifred.
Yes Biglugs, that makes perfect sense. Just dont understand why they even give you the 75 option if its no benefit.
We have managed to keep this thread going very well
I may just keep posting to myself every day, just to make myself a 5 star userBe nice0 -
