Version 5 was launched on the 7th (the day the price increase was announced) and the unit prices and discount on this are the same as version 4 pre the price increase, therefore version 5 should be cheaper than version 4. If you're unsure login to your online account and click on change/switch product (or something similar) then compare the prices you're on with the version 5 prices. It won't show you the discount you receive but versions 3-5 are all the same.

Just did that for my parents. The unit prices quoted for my tariff(v3) are exactly the same as that quoted for EnergySavingPlan. It doesn't mention any versions.

The unit prices for EnergyOnline Extra Saver versions 1-4 will be exactly the same as EnergySavingPlan (the standard dual fuel prices). The version 5 unit prices are what the standard prices were pre price increase.Just had a look at my online account and there are two Energy Online Extra Saver 5 products under 'Switch Your Product', one with a standing charge and one without. I'm on Energy Online Winter Saver as opposed to Extra Saver so I might be able to see a different list of tariffs.

It must be that. There is no mention of anything to do with V5 when I click Switch Now.

I'm guessing if you're already on any version of Extra Saver then you can't switch on to another version online. I get a choice of 6 different products to change on to. Do you only get 4? If you let me know which area your parents live in I'll post the unit prices for version 5 so you can work out whether that would work out cheaper for them.

Yes there are only 4 choices.

hi all just to let you know that if you want to change the version of the tariff you are on you can't do it online. you have to ring e.on and ask them to do it. The present version 5 prices are cheaper than all the other versions. worth switching to!

Thanks Stewie - I logged in to my online account and you are exactly right. My version 4 has all the increases and v5 is now the same as my old v4. Can't understand why I was told by eon that v5 was more expensive. This is very confusing. Surely you can't avoid the price increases simply by switching to v5? Maybe you lose some of the discounts on v5 (19% in my case)? And why did they tell me that v5 increased on the 8th, when it clearly hasn't?

yes, v5 is the new E-on online tariff and includes last week's price rise.

Are you sure? V5 is exactly the same as v4 pre-increase

I think ajaxgeezer means the version 5 prices include the price rise so won't be going up

The discounts on versions 3-5 are all the same so for the majority of customers version 5 will be the cheapest.
