    Good morning,

Seems a lot of us have had problems with Halifax then!

Tinkerbell - I have a barclay loan and credit card and they were really great. Accepted after about a month and stopped all interest on the credit card.

Mumzy looking at Natwests site it looks like they are geared up to account queries being dealt with by the branch so I would address it to that and maybe later then will move it on - thats what Lloyds did with mine.
  • Hello All

I have just sent off all of my documents to cccs (copies of statements, payslip etc). One of my creditors is cooperative bank visa. My bank account is with Smile (part of coop bank). Should I be setting up a new bank account? Could coop take money from my current account to pay for my credit card bill?

    Thanks in advance

Hi, yes and yes probably ;)

If you check all the small print in your T&C's for your CC you will most likely find a clause saying that can "offset" the debt using money from other accounts held within the group - eg for First Direct they include any HSBC account.

So to be safe - make sure you get an account with a bank you don't owe anything to - and remember some banks with different names come under the same umbrella company so they can still offset between them ;)

You are spot on with what you suspect they could in theory do that so I would apply for a new account asap!

http://www.payplan.com/debt-library/miscellaneous.php - this is a list of all linked creditors

And just in case you struggle getting a bank account here is a list of "basic" bank accounts http://www.payplan.com/pdf/bank_acc.pdf

Heres a dilemma which is a positive one, but still begs a key question. A family member, bless him, is offering to pay off one of my larger creditors. This would mean a 10% drop in my overall debt. However, if I do settle with one out of eight creditors, will they see that this has occured and come back at me like demons unleashed? The positive result though for the other creditors is that their dmp payments will rise, as I won't be paying the one I've settled with. I'd be grateful for any advice please. Also, I don't know how the CCCS would react.

    Hi cloudnine
I recently made some full and final settlement offers and CCCS advised me that I could pay whoever I wanted as long as my debt was being reduced

Thanks NomoneyNomoney....I guess I'm just worried about the other creditors shouting "what about me?... we want a chunk of this money too!!".
