    Hi,

As soon as I sent a letter to M&S saying that I am seeking advice with my financial situation I got that letter too. Too bad to them I have a 3.9% balance transfer for life so the interest increase won't affect me even if they won't stop charging interest. Let's hope that they don't decide to take that original interest offer away due me not being able to keep up with the payments.

Once we stopped keeping up with payments all our preferential rates went to ordinary, so I expect you will lose your 3.9%, sorry  .

  • Just wanted to wish everybody a nice, stress-free (if possible) weekend and say thank you very much for all the support. Haven’t got internet at home and probably couldn’t even afford it now, thank God my boss doesn’t mind, mustn’t take the mickey though. This website is worse than chocolate and sex put together!!!:D
FYI – I’m in for a long haul as well, roughly 7.5 yrs but I don’t think it has sank in just yet. I’ve only had my lightbulb moment in January - when all my lovely Xmas bonus went on minimum payments!!! XX

  • Hi can I join you?
Had my lightbulb moment last summer and started DMP with CCCS in November. I owe £12000 and am paying £235 per month.

It is good to see other people are in the same position as me and I'm not alone. Just wish I'd have found you earlier.

A quick question - I rent at the moment - has anyone got a mortgage whilst undergoing a DMP?

  • Went to the Post Office today with my first payment to CCCS and when I got home my postie had been with a nice default letter off Egg and a nasty one off Moorcroft Debt Agency threating me with legal proceedings...yawn.

  • Got home today a letter from the halifax with a card in it saying one of our representatives will call to see you with a date. How many shivers ran down my spine i had visions of all the street knowing my business. spoke tto CCCS who say nothing I could do to stop them calling but they have no rights and to reitterate i am paying all i can afford. On the card was a number to call an 0870 number so after looking up the regular number i called and spoke to someone and explained the situation with regard to my DMP with CCCS. very helpfull said would put motes on my file and cancel visit saying my paperwork must be in their backlog. Also told me my arrangement would not be acceoted as payment is below their 1% of debt so interest will be added for three monthes before I'm defaulted and passed onto DCA. Just thougt would post my days happening. not a great start to the weekend.

Hi Timetobefree, I think the Halifax are really overloaded as my DMP was accepted late January but my February card statement still shows interest and late payment charges being added. I guess it takes time for everything and everybody to be on the same page.

Uh oh. Just need to hope that they will freeze the interest before it happens. M&S is still not my biggest problem. My biggest problem is NW cc. The interest for that is nearly £300 per month  . I need to give them a call next week to find out what is happening.

    Thanks.

  • Hello all. I hope everyone has enjoyed some of the nice weather today - even if it was a little cold.

I am feeling slightly sorry for myself today, after a disasterous day yesterday - but looking back at it, I do only really have myself to blame.

I decided that as Payplan are still processing my paperwork *i.e the oh so nice postie has been taking his time in deliverying it to them grr*. I would write a letter to my creditors and for the two personal loans, i would actually take the letter into the banks and offer a token payment (these 2 banks being HSBC and Lloyds - and neither of which being helpful over the phone in telling my who I need to write the cheque to!).

Anyway, as I had a little bit of time spare yesterday I thought this would be a good idea *mistake number one!*. So off i trotted into HSBC, waited my turn, sat down with a nice lady who I thought would be ok, or atleast go and get a manager etc etc etc. Anyway, she said she couldnt authorise anything, and dialled the number to the debt counseling and collections department. who were the biggest load of rubbish. I told them that I was dealing with Payplan and they would send my income and expenditure to them asap, could I pay a token payment as a sign of goodwill.

No. Basically, the guy on the phone wouldnt hear anything of it, i may as well have not been speaking quite simply. So I got out of call by saying that I would call back with income and expenditure as he wasnt willing to help at this point.

Ok, so I got a little emotional whilst sitting there. I never thought that it was going to be easy of that they would hug me and say well done but I actually thought that they would have let me make a token payment.

So they can have the whole £1.15 that is left in my account instead.
On a good note, after I felt bad for making the lady in the branch uncomfortable with a couple of tears, she took my letter and said that she would try and get it put on the system. So not totally bad. but I am not looking forward to the calls that i know are going to start on monday when they realise that "oh look there isnt any money in the account for your payment" realisation kicks in for them.

Feeling slightly hit by a bus, I thought about not bothering with Lloyds at all. I didnt want to, but thought well, I'm here I may as well try. Well, the woman was less than helpful, just gave me a number didnt let me use the phone, and wouldnt take the letter to put onto the system.

I'm hoping that Payplan can get in touch with them before the date the payment was due. Because yet again they are going to want to try and put me on a managed loan or their debt managament plan blah blah blah.

The lady did say though that if I really was out of my depth they would recommend me to the national debtline. i did say that I am with Payplan I AM pretty much out of my depth.

But I am putting off phoning them to tell them the money wont be there because of what happened with HSBC. But I know I should really -but yet again I wasnt allowed to make a token payment. So again they can take the £4.50 that is in my account and thats it.

I have decided though that I will just post the letter with a token payment to my Halifax credit card. Because having only ever had one run in with their debt collection department I do not want to repeat that yet!

So here is hoping that Monday will come and go with out too many troubles and that the 2nd of April comes quickly to my first Payplan payment!

Hope everyone has a good saturday night!

    Hi Lindsey,

If you haven't cancelled your standing orders and direct debits to the loan/cc payments do it first monday morning. Otherwise you will start accumulating bank charges when they try to take these payments from your bank account/s.

And when the calls start just tell them that duet to "x" circumstances I won't be able to keep up with my payments and that PayPlan is dealing with my DMP and will be in touch. There is absolutely nothing that they can say to that. Just make sure that they will update the system. Lloyds have been really insistent with me. I spoke with someone earlier this week and they claimed that they hadn't received my letter so I went told about the situation and said that I will be paying token payments. Today I got another call and I asked are these details in their system and the caller had to admit that they were so I said that unfortunately my situation hasn't changed in last four days and that I would appreciate if they could reply to my corresponcese by writing to me. And that was that. Waiting for the next debt collector to call from Lloyds. So don't worry.

I will make my first token payments on Monday but will do it online like normal bill payment using the details that are on the payslip that comes with the statment. Personal loan I have the account number and overdraft of course as well.

    I hope this helps,

    Marru

    Hi Lindsey,

Just wanted to send you a hug and say this is the worst bit. Once you have your Payplan account number you can just quote that to them and they mostly leave you alone. We started with Payplan in September and haven't had any calls or letters so far this year :D .

Marru, M&S were very quick to accept our DMP and freeze interest, so hopefully they will be the same with you.

    Sam,
