I really didn't get anywhere near the amount of phone calls I thought - and although GE were annoying - no-one was horrible to me ;)

Thank you for your moral support, it really helps. And it's great to know that I'm not the only one on DMP in the whole of England.
Just had a thought, it's funny how life works - my OH is an absolute genius when it comes to saving, knows exactly how NOT to spend and has been telling me for years and I'm just absolutely useless with money, did not learn one single lesson from him, stupid me.

I had a great start to 2008 & felt back in control of my life, but that soon changed when HFC decided to take me to court. Now as great as the DMP's are I'm back to sleepless nights & endless worry.

I just don't understand how it's legal for credit companies to be able to turn unsecured debt into secured debt. Credit card companies charge massive interest rates if you don't pay off the full balance to partly cover the costs of people who get into trouble, then when things go wrong like they did for me they have a strong chance of securing the debt on your home.

Shame us debtors don't have so many choices!!

Hi, no I was told the first one has to be cash. But... if you have an account where you can take some out at the post office, you can take £250 out of a cash machine, £250 out at the post office (or over the bank counter) and then the next day take the remainder out.

You are ok to pay slightly later with CCCS as they can accept first payment up to 9th of the month so you could take some out today, using the £250 at bank counter and £250 at ATM and then take the remainder out tomorrow when you go to pay?

If not you will be ok to pay on Monday.

(I had same problem as my payments are over £600) ;)

Just phoned the bank. The limit is £250 per day via the card. They said I could withdraw over that in person at the bank counter :D So quick trip to the bank in the morning, then post office, than McD's to celebrate my first payment :rotfl:

    Cheers

That's good - A&L had a £250 limit over the counter too - which is why I had to do it all in 3 batches

I dont see how they can get a charge on your home as it would show HFC were being favoured over other creditors. I hope the judge rules that HFC can get lost and you can just keep paying your usual monthly payments.

Have you checked to see if HFC have mis-sold you PPI?

HFC have already been fined for mis-selling insurance

Hi I am looking for some advice for my parents it is a bit of a long story but here goes...
They are currently on a dmp with cccs and have been for 8 months the problem is their main debtor have called them today to advise that if they paid off £14000 they would take this as final payment for account when I advised that there was no way they could get this kind of money he asked could they not borrow it from any friends or family and then asked for info re mortgage outstanding etc and if they could release funds in property to pay amount off. He then said if they could not pay off in full the monthly payments would need to be inceased from £240 to £400 and if they could not do either they would take a charge on the property and then possibly request the property to be sold at auction.

I believe this was a scare tactic but it has unfortunately worked and my mother is extremely worried I contacted the cccs and they advised not to worry but I am wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences and if you could offer any advice on if any of what he has said is possible and what happens if they can't pay off or increase payments.

Thanks for any help you can offer
  • Hi all

May we join the DMP group??? We have been on our DMP with Payplan since January 2007. As you can see by our Signature we are long haulers too!! This site is an fantastic resource for Debt problems and money saving!! We learn something new every day.

Regarding the HFC issue, they have secured a debt against our house with a charging order. It is something HFC seem to like to do by all accounts!!!. We had a CCJ and charging order slapped on!! CCJ was reduced to what we were offering to pay so it was a bit of a 50/50 thing. We are also having issues with our bank overdraft which has been sold on (i think) at least twice now. Company called Marlin (See link to our thread please xx)

Hi everyone, long time since i last posted mainly because there is nothing to report.

I had my annual review at the beginning of the week, this marks 2 years on the dmp for me, the review went well and i have raised my monthly payments by £20 a month , not a big raise but every extra helps.
In the last 2 years i have cleared over £7000 on debt plus got my bank charges back so im doing really well, i have also started a full and final savings account ready for the end of the year when i hope to make offers to my remaining creditors.

Good luck to everyone just starting out, from another dmp old timmer
