I hope they understand i can not pay anymore its been a push as it is.I phoned them earlier and they said the are really busy as its getting close to end of financial year and the creditors are getting restless....that doesnt sound like good news for us.
Hmmm, that wasn't really worth worrying about. quick 5 mins to check my budget which hasn't changed at all and that was that..0 -

Thanks so much - you have made me feel better -just feeling sorry for myself today - and good to hear that not everyone is treated the same (but not good for those who are having a hard time of it of course).
I think the reason why I am worrying is because one of my husband's creditors - well their solicitors - have behaved really badly - and although we are trying to sort it out with the Court it really disheartened me that companies could behave like that.
Most days I'm quite upbeat about it but now and again the worries creep back (doesn't help I keep forgetting to take the anti-depressants of course!)
Anyway - I'm going to make a cup of tea - always cheers me up ;-)
Hi Amy,
Don't let any of my posts get you down, I post sometimes (like others) in the hope someone can give me an explanation or advice on dealing with a situation.
If you are in contact with HFC directly then you may not have any problems, the issue I had was that they immediately sent the debt over to Weightmans even though I had co-operated fully with their requests. It may well be that your debt with them isn't anywhere near as large as mine, which was £9200, after Weightmans put their charges on it's now £10700 & going up again with another fee of £100 & court fees of £190.
As you rightly said they do need a forthwith judgement before they can go for a Charging order (or for you to default on a CCJ), but that judgement is apparently very easy for them to get if you are only making token payments. If I were to offer them £100+ a month there is very little chance of them being successful in their request, but as I cannot afford to do that its my tuff luck.
Seriously though most creditors are very good & nearly all of ours have been fine. I wouldn't let it worry you, the DMP really is fantastic & until these problems with Weightmans started I had got my life back on track!!:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0 -

Same with my hubby - last week the CCCS gave him an "appointment" to do his 3 month review this week - but he is away all week, so he phoned them last Friday and just went through everything there and then - they wanted to know if he was managing on what he had - rather than trying to up his payments :-) Didn't take more than 5 minutes0 -

Thanks for your post it was really good to understand the background on it.
I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from posting their issues because that is what this thread is here for of course! - its really helpful to know all the different experiences. Just having a miserable day today thats all and only you guys to share it with this week (hubby working away). Sorry :-(
Anyway found my anti-depressants, got my cup of tea - I'm sure I'll be back on track shortly!!0 -
Amy - I know how you can feel down, sometimes no matter how good common sense tells you what you are doing is right you can still feel down about it. I take it you are diagnosed with depression, so dealing with debt is going to be huge to you. You will have down days with it - I do without the depression bit. Just try to keep in mind you are being responsible and also when you feel a bit feisty and you think companies are being unfair challenge them! Heres hoping you get a few more feisty days - I am sure you will feel better when your hubby is back too.
Take care and we are dead proud of you for how you are dealing with things and we are fingers crossed your ride is a little easier than some.0 -
Rayday - you're a star as always :-)
Sorry to everyone - don't want us all to be on a downer - I'll be back to my usual irritating cheeriness tomorrow no doubt0 -
AmyV,
Hi, i get down some days too, but the knowledge that my debt is reducing monthly spurs me on.Best day is when i receive my monthly statement from CCCS and see that my o/s balance has reduced again.
Chin up babes, you will be fine and dont forget we are all here to HELP and ENCOURAGE one another to get to Debt Free Day as soon as possible.
Take care.0 -
Hi guys,
Hope everyone is well today and enjoying that Friday feeling!!
Hope you don't mind me posting but, I need a little bit of a telling off/motivation push!
My DMP has got off really well, started with near on £60K debt and after 4 months all creditors have agreed and I beleive now all interest has stopped therefore my debt is going down by a whooping £787 per month. Brilliant!
But, now this is where my problem lies - I am finding myself becoming increasingly demotivated to challenge myself into making more savings/extra money to get this debt cleared sooner rather than later. For instance, this month I managed to earn an extra £200 in overtime (one off) and not once did I think I will put it aside toward saving to clearning those debt for good and have now spent it. I hate myself for it too.
I was just wondering if anyone else has ever felt like this and any ways to start motivating myself again? I wish I could have the 200 regularly as that would help clear those debts even quicker but I don't however I do want to clear them asap as want to have children and don't think I can with this hanging over me :-(
Sorry for such a de-motivating email! All you newbies, keep up the good work in setting up your DMP it is worth it.
Have a good day xx0 -
I've just realised I've got my first payment to CCCS tomorrow of £650. However, my new debit card will only let me withdraw £250. Can I pay the first payment of my DMP on a debit card? I know it says no cheques but wondered if debit card was ok?
SortingIt: I should be making bits of money every now and again and I'm intending to split anything I make 90/10. 90% will go in a seperate bank account to build up money for Full and Final Settlements and the 10% I will spend on myself.
It might not be the 'true' MSE way (I wouldn't bend down for 1p for example :rotfl: ) but I think it's important in situations like these not to go too far over the top too quickly. It's like trying to loose weight. Sure you can gym every day and drop your calorie intake by 1000 but you can't keep it up. A little treat every now and again helps keep your sanity. The important thing is you've realised by blowing that £200 you've made a mistake. Don't beat yourself up over it. I'm sure next time it happens you won't do the same.0 -
CBI, who's your DMP with??
I'm with CCCS & I have to pay by direct debit or if I had wanted to pay by cash I had to do it at a post office through their transcash system (sorry I've forgotten what its called) but there was a charge from the post office for doing it that way, which worked out expensive & besides which you needed to pay it several days early for CCCS to get it.
Sorry, I don't have a clue how the other DMC's work.:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0
