sunshine38 wrote: »Hi Everyone
I lost my job yesterday ... I think I'm still in shock. I keep going from one emotional extreme to another.
I had a horrible feeling that as I was coming up to the end of my probationary period in my new fantasically-paid-going-to-sort-all-our-money-problems-out job that something was going to happen. Still didnt really expect it to happen to me though. At least they never complained about my ability to do the actual job - they had just decided to relocate the role to another depo. So that was it, pack my bags and leave.
What's making me worse is that we've only just (on Monday) sorted out the payments to start making through CCCS as from 1st July and I actually thought we were getting somewhere.
Now I know I need to find another job pronto but I'm just such a mess today - I cant seem to function and think rationally about what to do, what vacancies to apply for (at least there appear to be several possibilities out there). Should I try and go back to where I was before? Should I temp (even though I dont like the thought of flitting from one place to another). Should I just try and hold my nerve and aim for something which is actually appealing in terms of trying to enjoy a job. Or should I just attempt to get any old thing that pays something (rather than having nothing). I'm so confused ... sorry.
Do I ring CCCS now and tell them my wonderful bad news or try and just meet the monthly payment from hubby's salary at the end of June and hope that I've managed to secure another job by then.
Oh, here come the tears again. I'll pop back later.
Sx
Sunshine, thats rotten news.
1. This job loss is not your fault. You ARE employable and there WILL be another job for you.
2. Your income has changed through no fault of your own. Call CCCS now. Creditors cannot have money you do not have.
3. Take a few days to setle yourself and get over the shock but call the HR lot at this place and see if there are other jobs you could do. If they can re-deploy you, it saves them having to recruit someone new. Saves them money and they get someone who they already know. It's woth a go.
4. Look for a job that suits you. If temping is difficult for you emotionally, avoid it if you can.
Chin up. The creditors have plenty of money and will all survive well without your contribution for a while. More important that you continue to eat and pay the mortgage etc.0 -

I stopped paying once they said they could not produce it because they said they were sending the account back to the original creditor. I am no expert here but from what I can make out a DCA cannot chase a debt without a signed credit agreement but the original creditor can still ask for payments but it MAY not be be held up in court.
I think if my creditors got back to me I would still probably pay. I know catalogues are a more grey area than loans etc. Did that answer your question at all?
If you are still unsure ask on the main board as there are more experts there.0 -
Sunshine!
I agree with Andy first thing ring CCCS and the rest to be honest lick your wounds a bit and see what comes up what you fancy rather than trying to make a decision now see what there is if that makes sense.0 -
Hi sunshine, I agree with everyone else. Give cccs a call now and at least it will put your mind at rest. I'm sure they have dealt with job losses before and they will be able to help you sort it out. I can't give anymore advice as I am at the same stage as you with my 1st payment being due soon but will help anyone the best I can.

Hi Sunshine
Agree with the rest - call CCCS and definitely go for a job you would enjoy. It will pay off in the long run.

Hi Andy and Rayday - your replies are much appreciated.
Ironically, although I was initially employed to be PA to the MD it was apparent that there was no proper HR person and it was suggested that I take on responsibility for that which I set about doing (along with dealing with Health & Safety issues - again because no-one was taking responsibility for it) so I did start to gain some insight as to how the company was working "behind the scenes" so to speak. Alarm bells started ringing in my head as it became apparent that as a company they quite often finished people at the end of their probationary period.
Anyway, its done now. The MD offered me the same job down south but as a northern girl at heart the prospect of upping and moving just didnt appeal - so, that was that.
Thank you for "permission" to lick my wounds - I needed to hear that. Poor hubby - he's in shock too I think - but just telling me that we will "bounce back" isnt really helping (bless him!) I just feel under more pressure than ever to make sure there's a salary to hit my shiny new bank account by the end of this month. He must be thinking "oh my god" too. He's trying to get me to ring my old employer today to ask for my old job back or see what else they have available ... I just cant face it.
I know the clock is ticking and I feel really selfish wanting to be able to left alone to feel sorry for myself/lick my wounds/cry/be a zombie/work through my anger and feeling stupid etc. My emotions currently range from wanting to curl up into a ball, admit defeat, sell the house and tell everyone to just leave me alone (although there's not much chance of being left alone by two young kiddies!) right through to thinking it's just a blip/ I'm good at what I do / I have never been out of work before in my entire working life so I must be doing something right / something else was meant to be / I will be able to turn around in a few weeks time and stick two fingers up to Stupid Company Limited and laugh at what has happened because I will have found a real super duper job.
Right, I think I will give myself a break from the endless job searching I have done since my news yesterday afternoon and distract myself with something else. I'm so exhausted. I've got certain vacancies saved on the agency website and I will come back later to have another look and whittle them down to what is really appealing and not just "available".
Thanks for letting me ramble

There is a follow up letter you need to send I have two catalogues that cannot produce one and I sent the letter and apparently they have both been referred back to the original creditor and I have heard nothing since... touch wood...
I will try to find a letter
Anyone remember this touch wood from this morning!
Well I must have touched bleeding laminate!
One of the creditors has got Wescot after me now with the usual threatening to take me to court in 14 days!0 -

....and from what I gather, you send them the same CCA request and when they fail to produce it, tell them to b*gger off the same as the last lot.
Just had my second call from RMA. Looks like I'm going to have to get heavy.
Any ideas where the template for 'stop phoning me and forget my number' letter is? along with the relevant statutes etc0 -
Yes its such a flipping fuss!
Sure it is an offence as well to chase a disputed account or against guidelines or something.
Never mind these things come to try us - don't fancy it for another 5 1/2 years though so tempting to start paying again!0 -
Hm is this the calm before the storm?
We got identical letters from Lloyds TSB for each of our loans today thanking us for the £5 payment and offering advice and assistance on their freephone number whenever we want.
