Simbalou i have reclaimed around £4000 from halifax in missold PPI and charges
they had already restarted the intrest on our debt before i sent complaint so i had nothing to loose, at least it has reduced our debt“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -
Also just to mention the cccs were fine when we told them we were reclaiming they just said to let them know when the debt was reduced.

Brilliant news, thank you! As soon as companies accept then letters will go out asking for my charges to be refunded. Oh how nice it is to have something to look forward too!DMP mutual support number 199Debt free in [strike]2025[/strike] 2018 (hopefully a lot sooner!):j Smokefree since 10pm 2/7/08 :jBaby no.3 due 29/04/20110

Whilst im on a roll i also wanted to say never let the companies bully you into making extra payments unless you want to.
If you fell harrassed just calmly ask them to send all correspondance by post.
You can complain if you feel they are pestering you by phone.
Keep you banks etc informed of what you intend to pay &/ any changes
I have found all companies much nicer recently to deal with as long as they are kept informed“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -
Thanks again for advice, I feel strong enough to deal with the companies at the moment because I know that on the dmp we can give our children a quality of life we couldn't give them before it started. There's no way the companies will make me pay more than we can afford because in my mind they will be making my children suffer and no-one messes with my kids!!!!
Any other advice you think of will be gratefully received, I'm going to be around here for many years to come and I know before I went ahead with the dmp I was always reading these boards deciding what to do so you'll be helping others too!DMP mutual support number 199Debt free in [strike]2025[/strike] 2018 (hopefully a lot sooner!):j Smokefree since 10pm 2/7/08 :jBaby no.3 due 29/04/20110 -
Hello all, I have been watching this board for a while now, had the courage to post a while back about our finances. Well, had a bit of a mixed old time, transferred over to Payplan 2 months ago, which then gave Barclaycard a lovely excuse to start charging interest again, even though our payments weren't late. Took away about 6 months of payments on one of the cc's. But hey ho, thats life, have just decided to go after 3 of our creditors for reclaiming charges.
It's nice to be in the + on a bank account, I totally agree. Myself, I print off a chart every month with what's coming in & out DD wise, & I tick them all off as I go. I use basic wages as a guide so if we get overtime pay we can treat ourselves to a take away or the cinema.
Have also changed mobile contracts, internet etc to cut dow on the costs, still waiting to do a couple but I finally feel like things are going somewhere.
We have about £19,500 of debt, so not going to be paid off overnight, but every small step counts!
Thankyou to all on this board for the advice & support, I would not be where I was today if it wasn't for you guys, you gave me the confidence to face the debt head on & I have turned my life around as a result!

One question I wanted to ask people but thought I was being daft is... can we carry on and try and reclaim bank charges and credit card charges even if they accept us on the dmp? If we can do will they just take it off the total that we owe to them?
Hi,
I have just had my DMP accepted by Vanquis Visa and simultaneously reclaimed my charges sucessfully. I was claiming £87.53 and they offered me £145.52. Result! If this is like my other credit cards, they will just take it off the balance on the card but I think thats fair. Reduces my total debt anyway.

Hi Guys.
Wanted to give you a bump up and ask if I can join?
I'm in the process of changing DMP providers from a fee paying one (robbing g*ts) to payplan.......I'm waiting for all the info to come back from my fee paying one so may need some help soon. Payplan are happy to take me on and with increasing my payments, I've halved the time I can pay off my debts :j
Hope everyone is well

I've classed any charge that a company puts on your account ie: late payment, over limit fee, returned direct debit etc as one that I can hopefully claim back.
I'm like you Angel Cake and every penny counts. I'm hoping to try and reclaim back any charges which companies have put on my account and then my total debt should come down and also the time I'm having to pay it over.
I am however waiting until they accept my dmp first because I don't want to rock the boat!DMP mutual support number 199Debt free in [strike]2025[/strike] 2018 (hopefully a lot sooner!):j Smokefree since 10pm 2/7/08 :jBaby no.3 due 29/04/20110
