Had my first call tonight from Next Directory! I actually feel quite good but guilty about it at the same time! They were obviously after money but I told them I am in the process of handing my debts over to cccs and they would hear from me in due course. All they said is they would put a note on my file and I shouldn't get any more calls from them, that was it!
One down, 18 companies left to deal with!
Think it's time for me to join the club and get a number please?!!!
Just want to say thanks yet again to everyone on here, it's the best feeling knowing your not going through it alone.DMP mutual support number 199Debt free in [strike]2025[/strike] 2018 (hopefully a lot sooner!):j Smokefree since 10pm 2/7/08 :jBaby no.3 due 29/04/20110 -

Hi everyone,
Just giving you all my usual daily update :-)
Sent all the letters to creditors and signed the DMP !!
Got a call from the Halifax today, I explained that we were going through CCCS with a DMP and I have paid a token payment of £5. They said ok, they will put a note on my account and wait to hear from CCCS.
Surely it won't be this easy, they are our biggest creditor !
Oh well, fingers crossed and touch wood it stays like this !!Lightbulb moment: 19 May 2008 !!Total debt May 2008: £24,220 Debt free date: Jul 2013DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 196Proud to be dealing with our debts0 -

I think I'm going to have to hold off from getting a DMP for a few months, as I read somewhere on here, that it is fraud to get credit when you know you cannot repay it.
Last month, I got a new tesco Mastercard, as I got a 0% for 12 months. I got it thinking it would temporarially help my situation as it would reduce my monthly payments.
My first payment is due within the next few days. I'm worried if I get my DMP, and write to tesco, saying I've applied for a DMP, and give them a token payment, they could turn around and 'do' me for fraud????
Has anyone been in a simular prediciment, or could advise?
Thanks Everyone

Hi everyone
I am very confused now. CCCS recommended a DMP but we have been to the CAB and they say they are confused as to why we were recommended one due to the size of our debt (£63k).
They do not think we would be offered an IVA as they like you to have a property (we are in the process of selling ours and going into rented), so she thinks bankruptcy could be our best option as we have no assets apart from a £700 car. CAB have made an appointment for us in 2 weeks to see a Debt Specialist to go through all the options.
I just don't know what to do, our debts are still going up, I want to get something sorted asap but I have to wait another 2 weeks now. OH's salary pays for the mortgage, bills, and debts and we have nothing left, so we live off a credit card every month and we only have £1000 left on that now, and we obviously won't be applying for another one. So panic is really setting in."Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, except backwards and in high heels"

Hi Summer, I got the same response from CAB except that in the final report due to my occupation and my assests in my little side business they adviced me to find ways to increase my income and that was that. I would definitely take the CCCS advice and forget the CAB.
I got a very nasty letter from Sechiari, Clark and Mithcell -solicitors on behalf of Lloyds. They threatened to add their fees on my loan etc etc. Has anyone had any experiences with them? I thought that only thing I can do is to copy my correspondence I have sent to LLoyds and send it to them. What do you think?
I wish I had never ever taken that Lloyds credit card. It was just a way to shift some money from more expensive credit card to low interest for life card and this is now the consequense. Sighs. Why can't they be like M&S?
