My gosh. It's been about a year since I was last here! Nice to know that Teecee and Smilealot are still around! I wish I could say I had a good excuse for my prolonged absense, but I'm not sure I do really. Work, getting my head down and staying out of trouble I guess ;)

Still, a year and three months on from going on a DMP with CCCS and things are still looking good. Well, I have enough to live on, the creditors are not being too bad (infact, since I've been on the DMP I've yet to receive a phonecall from them...of course, giving them my old phone number probably helped with then ;) )

It's going to take me a long time to get debt free, and I almost forgot that this little island on the web is one of the best places to get the help, and support you need!

I hope you'll let me stick around again!

Just wanted to say hi to everyone as it looks like I'll be around here for many years to come!

Just arranged my dmp with cccs, first payment goes out on 1st July.

I was looking for advice as well. Seeing as everything is more or less set up with cccs and I have a reference number (just need to send out letters to creditors) do I go ahead and cancel all my direct debits now and give myself some breathing space?

My new bank account is set up and I'm just waiting for my debit card to come through so I can swap all my priority direct debits over to that one along with husbands wages.

I felt sick with worry last week about everything and I'm actually feeling quite human now that everything is moving forward, I'm just worrying about small things now!

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to tell someone. Had another letter agreeing to reduced payments this morning. Woop Woop! Thats 2 out of 13 so a long way to go but not bad considering I only filled out the online form with CCCS 1 month ago. It's a relief to know things are underway.

I felt relieved as soon as mine started accepting and I used the situation to make others later down the line - I would say things like my biggest creditor has accepted or most people have accepted.

I do my own DMP so actively wrote to my creditors (never rang!)

I might do the same. Although CCCS are handling it for me, I think if I write to them too they may listen to me sooner. I'll also include my budget and creditor list but show that the 2 creditors have accepted. One of which is one of my largest. My monthly payments have been reduced from £75 to £5. Woopie!

    Hi simbalou
I am at the same stage as you, I cancelled my direct debits yesterday and arranged to pay my creditors a token payment of £5 by Standing order. This does allow some breathing space to keep back some money for your new bank account and for your 1st DMP payment.

I understand exactly how you feel but there are now quite a few of us all at the same stage, we can all support each other :grouphug:

Can I have a number as well, please? I'm still waiting to hear from most of my creditors about my DMP (through Payplan) but have written to them all with my reference number now so I assume they will eventually get round to reading their mail!

MBNA seem to be a case of left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing which is starting to annoy me now so I've written to them again but everyone else is still being quiet.

    Hi,

This is again that time of the month when the cc statements are coming through the letterbox. NW had added interest (they have promised to stop it starting 28 days from default notice so next statement shouldn't have interest), Lloyds have added interest AND late payment penalty fee. Yesterday I was pulling my hair out thinking what should I do about this. Should I keep bombarding them with letters to ask them to cancel these charges or just wait till I am in a position to offer FF settlements and then handily "forget" about all the added charges and interest when making my offer.

However today I got the last statement which was from M&S and they have actally refunded me interest from March and April, they did thou charge me £12 for the default letter they sent but hey - every little helps.

So at the moment I am just going to sit tight and see what happens.

    Have a great day everybody.

    Marru
