  • Just popping in for a quick hello before the weekend starts in earnest, friends coming round tomorrow night and i'm cooking so we've saved some money on a takeaway there :-) but have probably spent that money on the box of wine we bought....oh well....
Have had a few letters from my creditors and barclaycard have cashed the token payment but have not sent anything but a statement showing a late/missed payment and then a letter to tell me i've missed a payment - even though the letter I sent with the token payment had my DMP notification attached and I advised them I was with CCCS in the letter - so someone, somewhere in Barclay land has read it!! I'm guessing they're doing this so they can keep charging interest?? No-one has said they will accept my DMP payment yet or that they will stop interest and charges but I guess it's very early days so will try not to get stressed by it.
Hope everyone is ok and looking forward to the long weekend and no post on Monday!! :-)

    Hello cloudnine and RS :)

cloudnine, this is exactly what I presumed, OH had used the card etc so the incorrect name is irrelevant. I just wondered what would happen when the Default is added to his credit file as the name is wrong! And if and when a claim form arrives, the name will be wrong. But, OH is going to contact them again to ask them to change it to the correct spelling although the incorrect one is quite amusing!

RS - don't worry, it is early days at the moment and they are the hardest. Everything will settle down eventually so keep thinking in a positive manner and enjoy the long weekend.

    :)

Does anyone know if HFC Bank would find out and be able to get hold of any savings we manage to put into the Coventry Building Society? We are in a DMP with CCCS and HFC is one of our creditors. I found a really good savings rate with the Coventry but then realised they are affiliated and now I'm panicking because we have nearly killed ourselves getiing some money together by selling on Ebay and working overtime.

Hello everyone - I 'm hoping for a bit of advice on 2 kind of related things.

I am in a DMP (and have been for 3 years) with Payplan. As this point, all my creditors have started charging interest again and the amount I am paying them is now above the minimum payment requested, so DFD will be in around 4 years as I do still have quite a high level of debt. Now for the questions:

Should I stop the DMP with Payplan and start doing it myself ? If I do it myself, I could snowball, whereas Payplan only support a pro-rata payment. Also, Payplan ask for I&E each year, but now that I am paying my creditors above what they are asking for - does anyone really need my I&E ?

Another reason is that I need a new car. I only have a couple of hundred in savings, which isn't enough as I do 80 miles round trip to work everyday and my car is now nearly 15 years old and in a very sorry state - having done over 200,000 miles. I know Payplan don't let you take on any more credit whilst in a DMP, as it is unfair to other creditors - but given that I am over-paying - should this still be a problem (not that I think I would be given a loan with my credit rating - but I was thinking of a personal lease on a car - of course depending on what credit check they do - I might not be able to get one under lease either.)

I know I've rambled - so I'll summarise - should I stop my DMP with Payplan & do it myself now that I am being charged interest and am over paying ? Could I possibly take out a personal car lease, or other kind of car finance ?

Thanks to anyone in advance for any advice.

    Hi Miss Marple,

I spoke to Payplan about car finance because my OH wrote of his car. They said that they did allow this as it was a priority that we could get to work and that the "no further credit" rule is really to stop people using credit cards as that would be fraud. Car finance is secured on the car therefore different. As it turned out we got a company car so I didn't have to try to arrange finance, which I wasn't looking forward to  .

As for coming off the DMP, I understand your logic, and I think I will want to come off it and snowball once we're meeting minimum payments (which is a long way away ). I'm sure others will give you better advice on that :D .

    Hope that helps,
    Sam,

Ooh - thanks so much for that - I didn't know that's how they viewed the car finance. As you say - I'm not looking forward to trying to get finance - I might call Payplan as they might have some ideas as to how to go about it.

    Hello,
After lots of calls and posts with great feedback and advice we have decided that we definatley need to apply for a DMP.

Does anyone know how long the process takes? We are still currently paying all our creditiors but end up borrowing at the end of each month to survive. So will they tell us to not pay creditors from certain date or do we have to wait untill agreements of lower payments have been accepted? And is there an agreed time scale for the debts to be paid or is it indefinate untill debts are paid?

Also we have applied for a basic Natwest account, but is it not allowed to have a current account at all? We are currently with HSBC and they have said because we are fully into our £2k overdraft we will have to leave that account (understandable). But could'nt we open a current account with my husbands bank and use that? This could be done after the bank hoilday.

One last thing.... in most cases we assumed that the interest would frozen for all debts but have read on some posts that interest is still being added and even in cases where it has been stopped it starts up agian after a period of years?

Thankyou for reading through, hope someone can give us some advise on the above. Will be calling them back on Tuesday, fingers crossed (again)!
