    Just a quick question.

I received my first pack of CCCS yesterday (Friday 25th) and it says that my payments will be due 1st of the month. I take it that my first payment will be due 1st of June then. Is that right? I am sending of all the notices today and returning the statements etc to CCCS.

I am also opening up a new bank account today (hopefully). Does anyone have any ideas where to open up? I was thinking Lloyds as my partner banks there. I am cureently abandoning ship with Natwest. Will my debt problems cause any problems opening an account with Lloyds (obviously I won't be requiring and overdraft etc) or will I have more luck opening an account with someone like the Post Office.

Yes it would be better if you make your 1st payment on the 1st of June.
This will give you time to set up your new bank account and send out your token payments, hopefully as your only making token payments you will have abit of spare cash, make sure you keep hold of it for any emergencies that will arise in the next few months.
Alot of people on DMP`s use Co-op`s cashminder account which seems to be fairly easy to open.

Thanks, I actually just applied online for a smile account which is part of the co-op so hopefully i'll be accepted. I've taken my pay out of my bank account so the bank doesn't swallow it up. Hopefully things will start moving soon. Im looking forward to having some spare cash in my wallet for a change. I can now start chipping in for the groceries. :T

    Hi All,

I've finally taken the plunge and set up a DMP with CCCS. I understand that I need to make the first payment in cash using the Post Office and the 'transcash system' ???? - Can anybody tell me how much this costs please? I need to pay £768 to them and don't have very many extra spare pennies
  • I believe that the Post Office charge a flat £2.35 fee for a transcash transaction.
I could be wrong though as I`m more on the delivery side of things.

    Hi to all
    An update on my situation
DMP accepted and interest frozen by Marks and Spencer Loan (for 12 months) and M&S Credit Card aswell as Alliance and Leicester credit card. One of my GE Money accounts has issued a default and passed to a DCA who have accepted a reduced payment and frozen interest. The other is continuing to charge interest and keeps calling even though this was the larger of the two debts with them. Simply Be catalogues have passed to a DCA who want to charge a one off payment of 10% then accept interest free payments (this 10% however adds 16 months to repay so questioning their reasoning). Nationwide credit card and Lloyds (credit card, loan and overdraft) are not willing to accept. Have received a default for the Lloyds loan even though technically the payments are up to date as they keep taking it from my overdraft. Barclays are telephoning contantly and say they have never received any communication from Payplan or myself even though I sent them details by recorded delivery. Have heard nothing from Littlewoods so remain hopeful. Hitachi just keep sending reminders as do capital one. American express acknowledges my request and is looking into it as is Next. I have in total around 4 notices for default but at the moment can't remember who has or has not. Payplan has passed me on to their Long term client department and I have a new case worker person. On the whole I feel quite confrident I have done the correct thing and am just managing the money available to me even though BOTH Cars have needed tax and MOTs over the past month. There does seem to be light at the end of this very long tunnel so remain hopeful!

  • Hi All

Hope you have had a good weekend.

Just wanted to pop by and say that I have heard from Halifax re the Easycash account via email so I'm assuming that I'm almost there in being able to set up a new bank account. I've applied online with Halifax for OH too (as I would prefer us to have the same bank to be able to transfer money etc) but I'm more doubtful that he will get one as he went into a branch a few weeks ago and was refused - apparently the guy in the branch applied for a standard current account for him instead. So, I guess we will have to wait and see for his now too. Although he has received paperwork through to open a Citi Financial account, I dont actually think that's the right thing for him/us.

Not received my initial paperwork through from CCCS yet so I'm hoping that will come soon. Feeling a bit wobbly about getting it all started though. Can anyone tell me what happens initially. I'm assuming that I get the information through, complete forms and have to have a telephone interview with someone  .

I'm dreading the phone starting to ring again this week but it's hard to ignore unrecognised numbers when my two darling children are ever so "helpful" and answer the phone for me  . I've thought about getting our number changed so we only have to deal with things via the post but then I dont know how it would affect things such as broadband connection etc, can anyone advise on whether they have changed their number?

    Thanks

    Sx

  • Sunshine,if you used the debt remedy to sign up with CCCS then you won`t have to speak to anybody.
When your pack comes photocopy the DMP starting letter and send it to all your creditors, also in your pack you will have a transcash slip use this to make your first payment at a Post Office,in the pack is also a Direct Debit form to set up your future payments to CCCS,if you want to use Standing Order instead you can either phone up and request they send you a form or you can download it off their site.
The phone will ring with creditors hassling you to pay them, simply state that your going onto a DMP and give them your ref no,never agree to pay anything over what CCCS have down for you in the pack as it will be seen as favouring one creditor over another.
I thought of changing our number but just let the call be picked up by our answerphone, most of the time they never leave a message or telephone number so we knew it was a pay up phone call.
Now we hardly ever get any phone calls off them and even if I do answer now am far more confident of dealing with them, give it a few months and you will too!

  • Takeittothelimit - Thank you :D

I did complete the debt remedy online so that's good news. Shouldnt be too long then before we can get this all set up and get a reference number to quote to creditors. Phew!

Would you recommend just sending token payments in the meantime. OH is due to be paid on Wednesday so I thought we should attempt to send something in the meantime  . We need the new bank accounts to be in place dont we before the DMP plan can start

I have the same problem with the kids answering the phone. You can request that they remove your number from their records and only contact you via mail as part of the data protection act. I wrote to my creditors asking them to do this and only 2 did not stop straight away. To continue to call after this request can be seen as harrasment and a criminal offence. I worded this in a pleasant way and have had little or no calls. I wrote to my creditors once payplan had contacted them via recorded delivery just to confrim everything and also so I have proof that they received all the necessary details. I am trying also where possible to reply to all mail I receive in bulk every 2-3 weeks just so I can prove I have not ignored their correspondence. I am being quite anal but it can only help I hope. Payplan cannot contact my creditors directly but only via e-mail or post so sometimes I feel if I am also relaying the same information they may eventually start listening.:D

Token payments of £1 are usually advised until everything is set up and finalised with your DMP.
