Hello guys :hello:
A big welcome to our new members. It's great to see that more and more people are finding our thread. Hope the journey is a smooth one for you all, but if not, we'll be hear to help you through the rough water.
reformedshopaholic - I would send another token payment to be on the safe side. At least you can say you've sent it if they start whinging! I can't remember where the letter link is (so long ago that I did all this stuff!) but I'm sure if you do a search using the function above you'll find it somewhere. Let us know how you get on.
:j
Apart from food, I'm hoping it's going to be a NSW (no spend weekend)!
Speak soon,
smilealot :rolleyes2
Cheers for the welcome and support smilealot - still hunting for that letter the one on the debtline website doesn't quite say what I need to - also do I have to post my SOA with my token payment letter to my lovely creditors?
On the NSW weekend front - does wine count as food? :rotfl:  :rotfl:

Hi Reformed Shopaholic,
Firstly, just wanted to say good luck with your debt free journey!
With regards to your SOA, CCCS will send this to them when they send out the offer of repayment.
All I did was send out the sheet that CCCS provide stating that I was starting the DMP and then included with that was a token payment with a letter advising when my first payment to CCCS would be e.g. 1st May and that they can expect to receive the next payment from CCCS on or before the 25th.
Hope that helps.0 -
itsnowtime & hamsterpoo- I just looked at your signatures, you are doing brilliantly, lots of debt being paid off. Well done!!
Thanks very much smilealot! It's been a difficult one so far and having just updated my signature today I've noticed that I am only £1.55 off getting my debt to start with a 7!!! :T
However... I do know a couple of my creditors will add a few charges and a little interest this month so I'll just have to wait till May... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to say hi and thanks to you all for writing so openly and helpfully on here. Its been so good to read peoples opinions and advice and its finally given me the confidence to do something about my increasing debt.
For about 3 years I've been consolidating my debts by replacing loans with bigger loans and credit cards with other credit cards on 0% offers and stupidly not reading the small print. I'm now maxed out on all of my credit cards (MBNA - £6500, Nationwide - £5500, Egg - £5500, Marbles £3000). The worst thing, that makes me feel sick is the fact that 2 years ago I paid most of them off with a 17K loan, and now I have the loan AND the full balances. I'm feel so bad with money and scared about facing the reality of my spending.
However, over the last few months I've really tried to do something about my debt and have cut down on silly spending and wasting money. Today I did something that I am really proud of - I called PayPlan and got the ball rolling on sorting myself out. I called them this morning and I have to get all my paperwork together quickly as i've got the interview tomorrow at 10am. I really need to be on a DMP to sort myself out.
I hope i'm accepted. I earn a good wage (2k a month) and it was this wage that got me into such huge dept in the first place. Whilst at uni I always thought 'it doesn't matter if we eat out again, i'll have a good wage when I graduate'. Stupidly this went on and on and on, and now i'm paying for my uni life big time.
(I'm really going on, sorry, and i'm burning up with embarrasment writing this, but I feel good for letting it out).
Do people get rejected for DMP's? What can I expect the next few weeks to be like?0 -
Hi Rugby6ft8 - you are very welcome, being a fellow newbie and just about to start my dmp I can understand how you feel. Don't feel embarassed we are here to support you - computer techonlogy willing
I was about to say a big thank you to itsnowtime and marru and my computer crashed!!
anyway, would like to say thanks to everyone for all the help support and info and will keep you up to date.
If you post you SOA (income, outgoings) there's a template somewhere I'm sure you will get a lot of help and advice on how to budget and still have a life from those who have done this journey already and come out the other side.
Will post tomorrow to let everyone know where I'm at with the letters, token payments etc. but no post office till Monday..sigh and need to get 6 more Postal orders I think!

Hi Rugby,
Your situation is very similar to mine and I guess a lot of others. I too earn a good wage and always thought I could just about stay ahead of the game but there always comes a point that you can't.
The sudden realisation that you haven't got enough money to get through the month is horrible.
So long as when you've filled out your income and expenditure and there is a surplus left after paying your priority outgoings, I'm sure Payplan will accept you.
I phoned them in absolute desparation and they were excellent and I felt so much better knowing I'd done something.
Hope the interview goes well.
So don't feel embarassed, feel positive that you've taken the first steps to sorting theings out.LBM : March 2008

Well done Rugby on taking the first step :T. It does seem daunting at the start but it does get easier. I earn a good wage but got myself in the sticky stuff. It is quite enjoyable once you start and just tell your creditors that all correspondence will be in writing and ignore shippy phone calls. Good luck

Rugby, you have absolutely done the right thing. You will see from our posts that we all have a different journey but the best thing is that you have started it. I am with PP and have made my 3rd payment so far only another zillion to go but I must say that my 'mind' has never been in better shape thanks to PP and all our pals on this thread. Well done for the steps you have taken so far.0

Thanks for replying, its nice to know people are in a similar situation and dealing with them well.
Once i've paid my monthly bills, I am over by £200. Does this mean that I wont be accepted on a DMP as I have nothing left to offer the creditors. I pay £500 just in repayment to credit cards, £400 on the loan etc. The rest of my wage goes on rent, car, bills etc.0
