    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi,

Another new member here - been ploughing through all the posts - about 15 pages through at the moment but it's way past time to go to bed.

Started my DMP a month ago with payplan. First payments went out on April 1st. Getting lots of letters at the moment. GE Money (4 accounts) are being a bit nasty but so far everyone else is being reasonable. GE keep denying they have had any contact despite both payplan and myself writing to them - Oh well :(

At the time I realised the extent of my problem, I felt so sick and didn't sleep for ages - didn't have a clue what to do - so just went into the bank and told them. They were surprisingly sympathetic in Branch and put me onto Payplan.

Feel much better for reading the posts in here - so I'll stick around if I may :cheesy:

    Hi Janey51,
I have a debt with RBOS and Tesco credit card. I have been on a DMP with CCCS for 12 months now and i also havent heard from either creditor.
I dont receive a monthly statement from either but CCCS pay them religiously each month. I have checked with Equifax(credit File) and the balance showing as outstanding on the file agrees with the balance i have kept by deducting the monthly CCCS payments from the last statement i had from both creditors.I did also ring them after 3 months and they defaulted my accounts but also confirmed that they had suspended interest.
So hopefully they are happy with receiving just over 1% payment per month.
    Cheers,
    sillytel
  • Hi All, a DMP is something that I'm having to look into, who are the best company to go with? Payplan or CCCS?

Just a quick question - I am going to post letters to Creditors today informing them of DMP and sending token payment of £1.00. I have written out cheques from my new current account, but wonder if postal orders would be better as a) creditors won't then have my bank details and b) my new bank won't wonder why I am paying a £1.00 to lots of creditors and get suspicious.

Do either of things matter or am I being paranoid?

OVERSPENDING IDIOT - I think both offer a good service, but CCCS are a charity, Payplan are not, although neither charge you for their service. From some of the posts I have seen on here before CCCS appear to give you a slightly more generous budget, in terms of food etc. For example they allow you £21 for sattelite tv in your budget, whereas Payplan won't allow anything. Payplan appear "stricter" in this sense but it is a case of whether you want to cut your budget to the wire and pay off debts super quick. If this is perhaps a couple of years you might be able to do it, but if it is more long term then you probably need a bit more to live off. Having said that, there is the "live on £4000 a year thread" but I think that needs A LOT of determination and effort. :D

Yeah, thought so (after I wrote all the cheques out and put them in envelopes and sealed them!):D

Do you have to pay extra for po's or do you buy them a face value? Do you have to make them payable to anyone or literally just go in abd buy them - I need quite a few...

    Thanks
  • Hello everyone. Well, you can tell it's Saturday as the lovely, friendly letters from our Creditor pals dropped through the letterbox this morning (it's always a Saturday!) Grrrrrrrrrrrrr .....

We had good news yesterday - Nat West CC have accepted our monthly payments.

However, we have received a Default Notice from Lloyds TSB today and from what I can gather, they are always quick off the mark to do this. So, I've replied to it as I know it's urgent and will forward the original to Payplan on Monday.

We have also had another letter from Global Vantedge, which states exactly the same as their previous one zillion letters, so I've responded in exactly the same manner again, for the one zillionth time!

Anyway, hubby is glued to the FA Cup Semi-Final! And I have an Easter Egg left over to eat later! Yum!

I will read through all the threads whilst munching on my chocolate :)

  • Loopy, you do have to pay a little extra for postal orders but cannot remember the cost. Also, you make it payable to the creditor on the actual order and keep the slip as this is proof you have sent it.

    :)
