This is only my 3rd Month with Payplan, could anyone tell me if things settle down once creditors realise they are getting regular payments most of them are ok but the some are hassling still, mainly 1st Credit who have taken on Citi cards debt, and no doubt will in due course take on Citi financial debt too if the Citi cards one is anything to go by.
Has anyone decided to opt out of DMP in favour of IVA or Bankruptcy?0 -
My DMP is going quite well as you know all my creditors bar one have accepted some for 12 months ,some for 6 months i have a few questions .
The only one who has not accepted is Lloyds TSB credit card (i have 2 loans with Lloyds and overdraft they accepted straight away ) they still putting interest on plus charges i am worried about this as i am going to end up owing them twice as much if this contiues .I remember you rayday saying i should write Lloyds a letter complaining as other departments have no problems with my DMP but a feel affraid to do this incase all the loans & overdraft change there minds too.I wondering in other peoples experiences what will happen with my credit card account will it eventually be passed to a debt colletion agency or will Lloyds continue to deal with the debt but just continue adding interest .
My next question is how i said my creditors have agreed to DMP for either 6 or 12 months what are the chances if my circumstances do not change of the creditors acepting the DMP again ? Do the creditors just keep on reviewing every 6 or 12 months ? Is this just a formality for creditors to keep reviewing or as time goes on do the creditors ger more arkard ?
Basically i would just like to know what to expect further down the line even though my DMP is going really well at the moment .I am, a stay at home mum at present ,my husband works but with having small children i am unable to work for at least another 2 years (i also have health problems )What i am trying to say is unless we come into to some money i cant see our circumstances changing .0 -

I would not be afraid to complaion to LLoyds. I certainly will if and when I encounter the same problem - have 2 x loans, 2 x cc and o/d with them!
Try not to worry too much about the future. It sounds as tho your dmp is going really well so try to relax. It sounds as tho you have pretty much got 6 months of peace and quiet as they all accepted for at least this long. When it comes to review, if you aren't earning amy more then you can't pay any more and that is preferable to you decreasing payments. I would say the fact that most have accepted really quickly means that they are content with what they are getting (i am guessing it is a reasonable sum?) so won't necessarily hassle you more in a few months, but if they do you can deal with it0 -
Skibadee,
In my experience you will find that you will get constant hassle from a select few, particularly if a DCA. If they're constantly phoning you do have the right to ignore them. It's their most effective weapon as once they've got you on the phone they have a big psychological upper hand and twist you round their fingers. You can send them a letter demanding that any contact be in writing only- I think a template is on the forum somewhere if you want.
Read stapeley's new thread about the top ten things to do when dealing with a DCA very helpful.0 -
Interstingly, I am am now over my LLoyds od/ limit by £35 due to account charge and interest that has just been applied. Haven't heard a peep from Lloyds about this. Also they have not (as yet) taken out any money to pay either loan or credit card account. One loan and CC was due on 25 of last month and hasn't been paid and other loan was due on 1st. Had letters asking us to set up new dd's but that's it so far. They cannot fail to have noticed that no wages were credited to our account at the end of last month and I'm v surprised not to have heard anything from them - on the other hand I'm not complaining!:D0

Thanks Loopylu i am surprised but happy with Lloyds loans & overdraft they have been really good about my DMP .The only letter i have had from them are ones thanking me for my £1 token payments (none of my creditors have my telephone number & if i ring them i withhold it ).I have no income now going into Lloyds but they have stopped any charges which is great .
I may ring Lloyds credit card what should i say to them ?
I would like to change my user name for this site i have no idea why i chose the one i have do you know whether your allowed to do that and how ?0 -

It's called the Spendaholics Anonymous thread, and I started it because I can't stop spending, like many others it seems! Will you come and share the secrets of your success with us?!
Sorry for thread-hijacking folks.
All good, apart from Lowell, on the DMP front!
Have a good weekend everyone,
CSx
Anyway, cheers for inviting me to join your thread and I hope I can work out (laughs) how to sign up for a lot more - they're so useful and I really need the info. and help - yes, Spendaholic I'm afraid i'll be joining your thread to try and get support (and will offer as much as I can) I have only been a reformed shopaholic for 1 day really.....how sad! Had my LBM this week and spoke to CCCS last night and they were really good even when I blubbed so just waiting for my DMP pack to arrive - I actually had a zero spend day (NSD) yesterday but had to buy postal orders today and stamps (in readiness for offering token payment before DMP starts) so that's over £16 spent...
Spendaholic you may wish you'd asked a more qualified "reformed shopaholic" to join when I tell you that my initial name choice was "inthered" but someone else has it ....lol!
Ah well, it's Friday - left work early to try and get cracking with my budget, plan of action, bank account etc.
Just want to say thanks to everyone on here as it's such a relief to know there are people in the same boat - some boats are bigger than others, some have sprung a leak that is being furiously plugged and some are on stormy seas but it's good to know we're not bailing out and we're all paddling together. :TLBM: 31.03.08 - Debt at 31.03.08: £38000  (not including student loan)Member #172 of the DMP Mutual Support Club 'Spendaholics Anonymous' Thread Member No 550 -
HI Loopylu
I would recommend you go and see your GP re depression. I was diagnosed over a year ago and I have managed to turn my life around completely thanks for medication. I was in a very destructive relationship which wasn't helping.
Couple of exercises in the meanwhile: take pen and paper and describe your perfect day how you would spent it. Where woud you live, what would you do etc and then after that write down things you would like people to say about you in your funeral. Morbid I know but very effecient. Then every day ask yourself of what one little thing you can do at that particular day to get closer to the picture that these two exercises painted to you.

Thanks Whoopie and Marru for your kind words. I'm such a lightweight and just need to snap out of it! I'm boring myself now!!
I think I will go and see doctor on Monday, as if he agrees to sign me off for a couple of weeks, that will give me some breathing space (and time for the happy pills to kick in)! I have no idea if my boss's will pay me tho but can't worry about that at the moment and there's always SSP. We can cover priority debts and and have enough to live on from DH's salary so really it is "just" the debts. If i could convince our mortgage provider to let us go interest only for a few months (they keep refusing as they say we HAVE to have an ISA or something which will completely defeat the object!) then we could actually still pay around £500 p/m to CCCS. Doesn't seem enough to me considering the level of debt but if needs must...
One thing I do want to do is think about reclaiming PPI on loads of our cards. I know that we never asked for it to be there, but whenever you phone them about it, they say to have write to cancel it and in the usual way you never get around to it, but i think this is worth doing now, so need to get on it!
Thanks again guys - i just need a good kick up the backside, so any more future depressing posts from me, feel free to tell me to "put up or shut up!":D0 -
Hello, sorry if its a bit longwinded.
OH & I have been on a DMP for years now and it was originally worked out by the local CAB who dealt with everything at the time , thanks CAB,
Since visiting this site and finding out more info about things (snowballing ,ect) I now realise that its possibly not been designed the best way to pay.
Also the loan (woolwich) only agreed to a the current amount for 3 months, which was just up march, today they rang asking for an increase of £90,which I obvioulsy said I coulndt do ,
they have accepted the old amount for this Aprils payment but they want a new I/E form.
As we managed to clear one creditor early last month through scrimping and saving we dont want the extra to go to this creditor as it makes more sense to hit the high CC%.
Should we just send them the old one and leave it at that, , , as after the first 6 months the CAB havent needed to do anything and we normally just resent the old one with updated amounts.
or
should we just adjust the amount on our old one to what we want to pay which beneifits us paying more off the ones with interest,
we will still be paying the same amount each month just increasing the money to some not all.
or
Should we speak to a CCCS and sort out a new I&E sheet with them.
If we were to redo with one of the charities how would our creditors react to this and possibly lower new amounts ect.?
We cannot redo it with the CAB as they have had their funding cutback on and will not take on new cases and class us as closed.
thanks in advance
PS can we have a number as well please,
thanksMember of change Pip's name back to PIP club
