    tass,
On Payplans website there is a section about debt laws in Scotland....don't know if that will be of any help.

I might as well join now that I have worked out how to post finally.
  • Good evening folks.

I was reading the thread from Loopylu (hello) regarding Alliance and Leicester and MBNA.

Payplan recommended we opened an A&L account as they were not linked to MBNA.

MBNA purchased A&L credit card business and if you have an A&L credit card, this is actually provided by MBNA.

This is the only way (I think) MBNA can offset your current account with A&L.

Anyway, as we are a tad worried ourselves now, we are going to ring Payplan first thing in the morning to double check.

    :)

    Hi WhoopieDoodle

Did you get any luck with an answer on whether Virgin MBNA can take money owing to them from your new A&L account - i've just opened one and arranged for my salary to be paid in but now worried they might be able to pay the Virgin card with it??

    Thanks in advance

  • Hello reformed shopaholic :)

Yes, OH spoke to Payplan who stated that the only way MBNA can touch your Alliance and Leicester bank account is if you have an Alliance and Leicester credit card.

Talking of MBNA, we have had some amusing, to say the least, phone calls from them over the past few days. They demanded OH make a payment of at least a tenner, he kept stating he didn't have any money, so their response was "you work, so why don't you have any money" to which he replied it was none of their business.

Then they began to state they had received nothing from Payplan, so OH said he was recording the telephone conversation. Amazingly, they changed tact at this point!

Barclaycard rang earlier in the week and said they would not ring again for another 6 weeks. Then, they rang again yesterday and said they would not ring again for 14 days! tee hee ....

    :)

How long does it take before your creditors start to hassle you with phone calls? My sister sent her template letters off on 28th March with a token payment for them. 3 out of the 4 creditors have cashed the cheque but she's not heard a word out of them. She did state in her letter that she did not want to receive phone calls from them and that all correspondence should be in writing. Will they still hassle her?

    Sorry for thread-hijacking folks :o.

All good, apart from Lowell, on the DMP front!

  • GirlRacer, our telephone calls started about a month after OH signed up with Payplan. But, not all the creditors ring (we have not had a peek from Capital One, just statements through the post).

compulsive spender - I am the opposite, I am becoming Scrooge! I won't spend a penny unless it is absolutely necessary! Perhaps a Scrooge thread should be started, for the misers amongst us :)

As some of you now my and the hubby are on a DMP with churchwood and we have worked out that we are paying them £115 a monthfor doing so.
I dont really know how much we owe or how many years we are paying over as i have never recieved any information like that off them.
We are now looking at moving to either cccs or payplan i didnt know that there were companies where you didnt have to pay.
Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how we go about doing this im sure our creditors wouldnt mind as the money that we save from moving from churchwood we would be able to pay them extra off our debts.
    Any help would be appreciated.:o
