Thank you so much for your replies. If it wasn't this thread the letter would have upset me immensely and now I am just feeling grateful for it. This the cc that charges me £185 per month for interest so sooner that can be stopped the better. I can't describe how much this thread has helped me.

Probably no need to try and describe it. I know how much it helped me, I would never have had the courage to look at DMP's without being able to ask questions on here first - in fact I think I'd never have heard of a DMP without being nosey and looking on here!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
And I was on a DMP and never knew it until I discovered this thread lol!
Hopefully your default notice will mean they are going to do something for you now - fingers crossed!0 -
Marru, NW told us that once we had the default it would pass to their recovery department and interest etc would stop. We are still waiting for ours however!
OH did the "phone in the drawer" yesterday with MBNA. They would not listen to him at all, constantly interrupting and being generally horrid, so after so long he asked if they could hold on a moment and stuck the receiver in our tea-towel drawer! tee heeIt was in there for around 10 minutes. They haven't rung back as yet!

Love that!!! Will definately remember that one! What is WRONG with these people? Oh yeah I forgot, they work on commission! What a sole destroying job that must be - and I thought my job was cr*p!:rotfl:0 -
Hi everyone,
Just been reading about all the comments regarding Northern Rock. My brother has lost his job and run up a huge amount of debt and is unable to pay his mortage with Northern Rock. He has a close friend who works with NR who advised him to make them an offer of payment which could be a low as £20. They need to be seen at the moment particularly to be helping those who are struggling and avoid repossession. (Although they are not encouraging new customers). They have accepted his offer of payment for a 6 months and stopped charges and will review in 6 months time. But they did say they could not guarantee further action would not be taken at this point. Don't know if this is of interest to anyone?? On my debt problem front. Started DMP with payplan March 6th. It's been quite quiet and all creditors just send statements with details of charges etc but I expect things to get more hairy around the 3 month mark. I am much more positive and in control of my finances and have a little left for luxuries last month but would like to save each month to offer Full and Final settlements in a few years or pay smaller debts off in the future. Debt free sounds amazing! I have a debt free date of 2021 so only 13 years to go!!! But hopefully with pay increases etc can shorten that? If interest is stopped! Good luck to everyone and I have found this forum a life saver and have learned so much!DMP Support Thread Member 142

Payments with Payplan since March 6th

Apologies if this is a subject that is bought up often on here but I'm very new to these forums.
My worry is this: we've been on a DMP since Sept 06 and have generally managed the monthly payments. However, we're currently selling our house and have no savings to deal with the charges and fees that keep popping up around every corner. They have to be paid so last month's DMP payment was late and this month we have only been able to pay half of our monthly payment. As ever, CCCS are great with this but I'm dreading the rash of nasty calls from Blair Scott Oliver, Monument etc that this is sure to bring. I've already had two calls this evening when I was out and I feel really anxious as they don't seem to stop even though I explain the situation.
Any advice on dealing with these phone calls?DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

I am so glad that I'm on a DMP.
DH is in the process of swapping from weekly to monthly pay. The company offered a loan that is paid back over 4 months.
DH and I discussed it and we decided to refuse the loan as it would mean 4 months of 3 weeks pay compared to 1 month of 2 weeks wages.
Well we've just had the month of 2 weeks wages and still had £30 in the bank the day before payday!!!
This would not have happened pre-DMP, we'd have had the loan plus gone into an overdraft!!
I can only put it down to the budgeting lessons that I've had to learn with the DMP.

Hiya!
Just been reading about the defaults which have been getting issued. I decided to check my credit file (free!) and only one of my creditors (Cahoot) have defaulted me, but ironically they are the only ones who are still charging me!!
Anyway my question is - there is a D for "default" recorded for every month I've been on my DMP with Cahoot. Will I get one each month until I pay off the whole balance, because if that's the case, I won't have a clear credit record for almost 20 years!! Rayday - you mentioned you only get one default, so does this make sense?
Thanks in advance xMember #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

Hi Smilealot - I have looked on my credit reports and my default that is registered and I can see was for one month only and then the account was closed on my credit file - but in real life it went over to a DCA.
Then I tried surfing the web and I can't find any information about how many but I do remember reading on another topic in this forum that you can only default on an account once - so I will keep looking for you because it is bugging me now!0
