Scam - Vehicle World Services

I wish I had made a vist to this site 4 days ago.
I am another silly person who manged to get conned by "Vehicle World Services".
I was initally suspicious of the perfect timing of their call and the fact that I had to part with £99.99 before I sold my car but checked them out on the Companies House webside and they appeared to be a legal company.
Based on that i decided to give them a go as am normally suspisious and v. careful.
Never again!!! was the usual speal " we have three buyers lined up ready and waiting to purchase your vehicle etc" they even gave me a website link with a seamingly working business and then nothing.
They were certainly quick enough to take my money but offered nothing in return.
I have today reported them to the Autotrader but do not see much point in informing the police as they will probably not be interested.
I really hope that somebody manages to stop petty desperate criminals such as these as soon as possible do they not know how to earn a decent days wages.
Is anybody slightly worried that they have all their address details and know exactly where vehicle is? I cannot seem to forget about it.
Just for info they contacted me on the following numbers: 0208 492 3932 and 0845 43 00 3180 -
I also fell for this scam. They called me up saying they have 3 buyers in a 47 mile radius too, is there anything i can do? i am worried that they have my bank details and address info now at their disposal.
are there any numbers i can call?0 -
Thanks to everyone on this thread, despite the "should have known better" thought process, I nearly fell for this one. Fortunately the company and the patter was all the same and with the help of google it brought me straight to these pages whilst I was talking to the guy.
He did actually say "don't type us into google as we dont come up, its better to just type in the web address" To cap it all when I asked him if he was the same company he gave me a lecture on the fact he drives a £40k mercedes and I was wasting his time :rotfl:
The principle is as ever; if its too good to be true.........0 -

This is for all the people that have been scammed by vehicle world services.
I too was scammed out of 99.99 a few weks back. Basically I got a call saying they had people interested in my car and you know the rest. They took my 99.99 and guess what I never heard of them again. I googled the company and found all this information saying they were a scam.
I phoned the customer service number and demanded my money back. I was told I couldnt have it as they were now working on my behalf to find me a buyer. Next thing I get a receipt through the post thanking me for placing my car advert with them. I phoned back and told them I was a solicitor and they had obtained my money by deception as I had not paid to have an advert. I was told by William Collins in customer services to write a letter to them.
I wrote a strong letter putting my point of view across. At the bottom of the letter I then cc
The Mirror Newspaper
The office of fair trading
Watchdog
And my solicitors.
I never actually sent a letter to any of these but vehicle world didnt know that. I then phoned a few days later and was told I was getting a full refund and sorry for the trouble. Next day a cheque arrived and has now cleared through my account.
This is the only way to get money back from these people. Write a letter and cc these people in, whether you send a letter to them of not. If they think you are getting these people involved they wont want the hassle and will issue you a refund. They know they have obtained your money by deception so you have rights.
I hope this is of some help to all those who have been conned out of your 99.99. I got my money back within a week and so can you. These people should not be allowed to do this.0
