OS Daily Thread 6th Februuary 2008

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 6th February.. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning all................(((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))) if you need one...I do right now, it looks as if the scourge of my life is back......cystitis I did think it might be on its way yesterday, when I went to bed, I had the old familiar feeling and have not been able to sleep, so have just had a large glass of cranberry juice and 2 paracetamol, in the hope that it will help.

Nothing really to report, except that I am wide awake, so going to surf on line for a while.............

Although now I come to think about it, we have not had a reply to the letter we sent to customer services re OH's annuity, times up tomorrow....so it looks like a letter to the ombusdman and Watchdog is on the cards.....

Morning CSARINA - you're up earlier than me! I hope the cranberry juice has worked.

I woke up and was instantly wide awake with things whizzing round inside my head. There's no point staying in bed when that happens but my DH will think I'm mad! Still, it gives me plenty of time on here without feeling as if I should be doing something else! I have to collect DGS from school this afternoon - usually he comes round on a Tuesday afternoon for dinner but his after-school swimming lessons have changed days so it will be Wednesdays from now on. I shall definitely aim to have a nap before I pick him up or I'll be dozing off while he's here!

Well, off for a mooch at yesterday's thread -I didn't get the chance to come back here during the day; DH had to go for a H&S induction course for a new contract he's picked up so he took the rest of the day off and his phone didn't stop ringing all day - suddenly he's got more work than he can handle and he's never been in that position so early in the year before. It's a dream come true for me - I hate the fact that he's self-employed because it makes for an inconsistent lifestyle and a really inconsistent cashflow situation. Somehow, he thrives on it and loves the challenge. It's a lot more work for me administration-wise but I don't mind if it means the dosh comes in more often and more regularly!

    Anyway, will pop back later.

  • Good morning, campers! Thank you all so much for your kind words and PMs yesterday. I'm feeling much brighter today, so will go in to w*** and make my application for my own job.

My crocheting is coming on and I've made a circle  :j :T :smileyhea :happylove :xmassmile  :footie: :hello: :easter_ba Can you see I'm excited about it :p Donny's taken me under her wing and is supervising from afar :T :A Cheers DG!

We took the seed catalogues to bed last night and have planned the vegetable garden for this year. I'm hoping to slip in a packet of spinach and see how we go with that. We edged the veg beds with miscellaneous annual flowers last year, and they looked really well, so will be repeating that, too.

Churchmouse - enjoy day 2 of your Birthweek

:hello: :hello: :hello: To shez and everyone else!

Off to take Mr P a cup af tea. Have a lovely day, Penny. x

Morning. Nice to see that this thread has been started today!.

Hope everyone is well. I have picked up another winter cold.... I thought you could only get one! .
My 2 day course took care of the early part of the week, and now it's back to work today. I used £49 worth of fuel to get to it over 2 days. I sort of think that is rather expensive. Mileage refund should return me £96, so I guess I am quids in, but it all seems a bit of a waste when you look at it in those terms.
It's still wet and windy down here, the garden is a swamp, even though we are on high ground and don't get flooded. Pity the poor people in the valley.

Well folks, have a nice day...

    Good morning everyone,

Had a Ninny day today and it was lovely. DGS just gone home about 1/2 hour ago. Lucky as it's raining now and rolling thunder all around. It's been so humid here so no big surprise. Just did the basics today. I got a bit of knitting in as I was sitting watching Play School with DGS for 1/2 hour in the am and pm. Fish for tea tonight seeing as it's Ash Wednesday. Made some pancakes last night for dessert which were yummy. I have them with maple syrup and icecream.

    Csarina "Honeymoon' cystitis" ?? :D:naughty:

Penny Soon you'll be doing a square and you won't be able to contain yourself. :D Good for you that you've picked yourself up, brushed yourself off and feel much brighter today.

Well think I might start a bit of mending. ;) Sounds good anyway. Hope you all have a great day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning Chums,
I am up bright and early this morning as I have another dose of chemo this morning. They will also tell me if I have to have a 'groshon' line fitted to my chest or not next week. I hope I don't, as it means another day at the hospital, still I guess they know what's best. They have a bit of a problem finding my veins and when they do they keep 'blowing' or collapsing ,hence the line.Still at least another dose will be out of the way this morning. I am almost hairless now, and my gransons are finding it quite a hoot that Granny looks like a pirate in her headscarf. They are little scallywags to me at times but they do keep me cheery, bless 'em.
I had a great night last night at my youngest DD's, with me tossing pancakes as fast as I could make them. The smallest DGS, Mikey wasn't keen on the pancakes, but thought throwing food in the air wonderful and roared with laughter everytime the pancakes were aloft. My DGD said she is giving up chocolate for Lent ,I'll believe that when I see it !
well time I went and had a shower as my DD is picking me up for our morning out at Maidstone Hospital at 7.45.It's only about 10 miles away, but the traffic is awful in the morning. <<<Hugs to those in need >>> and a big smiley face to the rest of you.
  • Morning Guys!

Havent been too well again the past 2 days and was up the hospital all day Monday and it knackered me out. Won't go on about it though.

DD is not going into school today as she's not very well. So think we will just have a sofa duvet day.

WM is on, DW needs emptying and toilet cleaned.

Have one of our friends kids coming for dinner tonight. He has recently left home and asked if he could come over for some advice, so offered dinner too. Going to make Lasagne.

Going to make another traybake today and have bought sprinkly toppings and walnuts, so may do a carrot & walnut one tomorrow:confused: and an iced sprinkly one today.

Managed to sell 13 items on Sunday on Ebay. Profit after postage was about £48:j :j :j ...the postage was £20:eek:

Anyway, going to stick the kettle on and make a brew.

    Hugs to all.

Good to see you on form Haribo and Aussielass your kitchen looks lovely.

    Morning All

Csarnia - hope you don't get cystitis too bad.
PenPen - well done on the crocheting:T you're better than me - never even tried. Is it easy to pick up?
N9eav - hope your cold doesn't last long. It could be the famous re-occuring cold of this winter. Keeps cropping up in my house

Feeling very proud of myself today. Was having coffee with a friend yesterday and my ex's mother came in. It was very obvious she wanted to say something and was trying to make me feel uncomfortable, but it didn't work, I stayed put and didn't give her another thought.

Going to apply for another job today - this one would see me travelling the world trying different food! :p

Must ring the solicitor to arrange to exchange on the flat - will have to be Monday now. Also got daily clicks to do.

    Hope everyone's ok

had a busy day yesterday, all housework done, and washed dogs bedding, which was filthy  , still all nice and clean now.

We did not have pancakes as we are not too keen, and were full up from dinner, I had made some fairy cakes so we had one of those.

Off to work today, got my appraisal, waste of time of you ask me, they appraise me to see if I have done my work correctly over the year, bit late if I haven't eh

Got my mums recipe chicken casserole, for dinner with hot dog sausages in its delish, will shove it in the slow cooker in a while, and have a quick swipe round, I have done the veg for tonight, will just have to cook rice when I get in.

PenPen I'm glad you feel better this morning :T

Aussie, you thought I meant a pig pig, rather than guinea pig? So you must have thought I kept a pig and a rabbit in a cage together :D

I had the bed to myself last night - bliss :D

Not sure what I'm doing today, so I'll pop back later.

    Morning all

Hugs to Jackie O and Pen Pin.

joined Slimming World yesterday, and am still trying to get my head around the plan - Green day today, so have done a big tub of pasta and will put a tin of tuna and some salad with it, plus a bit of salad cream

Dinner is jacket potato with something, probably some cooked ham and salad. I'm sure I'll soon get the hang of it, I like the idea of eating as much as I like (of certain foods) as I'm greedy :D

Work today, so I'm off to walk the dog. Catch you all later x
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
