hi im having a batch cooking session this afternoon and wondered if someone can help me i am making scones, peanut butter cookies, maltloaf, fruit cobbler and just some buns could you tell me if i could freeze all these please as not sure wat will happen to them if i do thanks ash x0

Hi ashlea,
They should all freeze well. Scones are best eaten fresh though so when I freeze them, once defrosted, I pop them into a hot oven for a few minutes to refresh them.
Your question will probably help others so I'll add it to the Freezing - quick questions thread.

Scones, maltloaf and buns should be fine. Not sure about cookies or fruit cobbler.0

I often freeze cookie dough, either wrapped up in a 'sausage' so I can slice it off (for thick cookies you need to defrost this, for thin you can *carefully* slice bits off), or frozen into little 'pucks' that I can just put on a tray and bake. It does take a bit of fiddling with the cooking temps/times, but I find it handy to always have a quick way to make some 'fresh' biscuits.
I'd imagine that fruit cobbler would freeze perfectly well - I often freeze crumbles/sponge puddings and it does them no harm.
Everything else will freeze well - the only thing I find with buns is that sometimes the cases fall of while you're defrosting them, but it's not a massive problem0 -
Couple of queries -
I roasted a chicken and put the rest in the freezer. I then defrosted that and used it in a curry. I've frozen it again - will it be ok to eat? Didn't think it through properly so hope I haven't wasted it.
Made rice pudding in the slow cooker but there's only me and it's quite a lot (well, I could eat it all but not very good for my diet!). Can I freeze some of this?OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090 -

Hi Sammz,
Chicken (and all meat) should only be frozen once after it's been cooked. I don't think I'd risk it. Sorry.
I have never frozen rice pudding but this thread might help:
Can you freeze rice pudding!!?

It will be fine to freeze but (if it hasn't been previously frozen uncooked) I prefer to freeze it as it is and eat it freshly cooked.
