Usually it's six months to a year for meat, if you look at your freezer instruction book. However freezers, especially these which are a compartment inside the main fridge unit, do vary in their temperature ratings. All freezers are not equal!

    Freezer ratings are here.

It used to be that food was labelled with storage recommendations for each kind of freezer rating, but it sounds like the manufacturers have changed this to make it more simple. I'd ignore their instructions unless you've got a one or two star freezer.

We once had a conversation at work about this very subject. I admitted to having items for two years or so in my freezer, and another girl revealed her mother had served a joint of roast pork which had been in the freezer for at least seven years, to her knowledge. I think that taste is degraded over the months and years, but that's pretty much it. Fish is not so reliable, but sniff it and see is a good rule of thumb. When I think clearly about it, the bags of pre-frozen Iceland stuff always ends up with freezer burn but not the home-wrapped (but never, of course labelled) items always seem immune. The really telling time is when your freezer packs up and in turfing out the entire contents, you can't but help seeing the date or the price (!!!) of the item. Tends to date it somewhat.

Labelling is important. Steak and kidney pie with custard is not to be recommended! LOL. True this is what my mil once served up.

I tend to bin things after a year. I had some breastmilk in the freezer for a year and couldn't bring myself to bin it. There was one time when I had a shelf in there dedicated.

As the title states can I freeze tortilla bread

I will not eat a pack of 8 tortilla on my own, so was wondering if I use half can I freeze the other half, for the following month.

I dont really like tortilla wraps, I only buy it for fajitas for dinner. which I have once a month as a treat as they can be expensive.
