Not advocating criminal damage but if someone does park over your drive.....your keys, their car door......:shhh:

    What an unpleasant post.

Let me ask you a question: if someone did this to your car because they thought it was 'justified' would you accept this? What if you parked one inch across their drive?

People that advocate criminal behaviour are far worse than those who park inconsiderately.

surely this is a chicken and egg type question. which came first?

    the person who parks inconsiderately.

the reaction is only in response to their original action. should we not be accountable for our own actions?
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

But there are ways of handling this that mean you don't need to act like a criminal aren't there?

if you have a private drive, then its illegal for others to obstruct it.
call the police to impound it.

if it continues to happen, deflate all the tyres and call it an abandoned vehicle to the police, they will soon take it

We are responsible for our own actions.

do you think that deliberately causing damage to someone's car, especially that of a neighbour you may have to live next door to for the rest of your life, is a responsible thing to do?

I remember several years back my car was blocked in because some inconsiderate b*&!£$d had parked an inch away from my bumper, with another car already an inch away from the other bumper.

I called the police and gave them the reg. nos of both cars (not being sure which was the baddie!), they tried to phone the owner but couldn't get through, and then told me that because I'd informed them if I tried to move them myself then I could get done for criminal damage (I think). So they suggested I keep on trying to find the owner myself!

Eventually someone came out of one of the houses (it's amazing how annyoing a car horn can be at 8am :D ) and moved their car, although I don't think they were the guilty ones.

Seemed to me like the police didn't really care, unless I really needed to get out urgently (eg if I was a doctor or something).

Our house and 3 of our neighbours all share a drive but have seperate parking spaces, at the top of the drive is a car park for the local High Street and Council Office. The amount of times people park across the top of the drive is unbelievable.

Someone once did it as we were getting into our car and had the cheek to make us wait until they had been to get their lunch from the local sarnie shop before they moved.

The thing is aswell if they block our drive not only can we not get in or out with a car but we cant even get in or out with a pushchair, as there is no path round the car park.

And its all because everyone that uses the car park have to park half a mile away from each other (the spaces aren't marked out) they leave that much room between cars that you could open the doors as far as they will go on both sides.

Fair point, I shouldn't generalise and I apologise to all those 4x4 drivers who are kind and considerate and obey the speed limits.

However I still have an issue that I don't know how to resolve. Because these cars and vans aren't actually blocking the drop kerb, most of the advice on this thread probably doesn;t apply to me. However because they park just either side of the kerb they are causing a serious obstruction.

    Anyone any suggestions?
Yes ask your wife to turn off the radio and wind the windows down a little to listen for traffic, that's what I do.:j
  • Can I employ a clamping/towing company to solve parking problems on our Keep Clear sign? Wonder if it costs?

I agree, although when someone has been told consistently and is being consistently ignorant, go for the horn !
