    Hi Sporter,

sorry to put the poo-poo on this.....

    ah...hold it...I'm not sorry....

don't do it, there are plenty of stories of these companies taking your chunk of money, taking their own fees out and then being messy with the rest....sometimes they don't do what they should and your money hasn't reached where it should go to....I've heard of people paying for 3 years and then finding out they're no nearer being debt free as the money simply hasn't gone where it should...Payplan and CCCS have an infinitely better reputation on here....I can't remember the last time anyone's actually said that a commercial company has done good job...and you don't have to look very hard to find a complaint...
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

Not going through anyone else on this. Dealing with the debt directly.

Have spoken to Wol2 and, what can I say, absolutely brilliant. Has really put me on the right path for sorting my debts out. I am feeling much better today.:j Thank you Wol2 and you guys.

Will keep in touch and let you know how I get on, step by step.

Not much to report I'm afraid.............

Rang Tesco to see whether I could get 0% deal for 13 months cc in order to do BT from my M&S card and MBNA card which are 18% and 29.9% (£3,000 approx) respectively. Said I would need to pick up form in store or do application online. Really wanted to talk through application on phone as have been advised this is the best way. Rang twice in order to speak to someone else.........got the same answer.

Then rang HSBC. Couldnt get £11,000 limit (this is what I said I would need to BT across). Lady said I should take out a loan instead. This would be at 14.2% for 5 years, approx £252 monthy payment (fixed).

Just trying to get as much of the debt BT'd across to a 0% card or maybe a life of balance low rate card.

    Any more ideas anyone?

Yes - don't ask for any more Cards!!!

Asking too many times can put a serious dent in your credit score. Each time you apply for credit a credit check is performed on you. More than 3 in a 6 month period can affect your credit score.
Martin had an article somewhere about it - if you apply for a credit card and don't get the limit you want, don't shoot yourself in the foot - the credit check is already on your file so you may as well use whatever they were offering.

From what you've said above, you may have only had 1 company check you - did HSBC actually offer you a card? Can you check your credit file or ask them?

No, I dont think HSBC did a credit check. She asked some basic details, i.e. name, address, but then I told her how much I was looking to balance transfer over and she then said it was best I applied for a loan instead. It was at this point that I told her that I would have to think about it (knowing all too well that I didnt want a loan) and she said that I would need to open an account with them in order to get this loan. We didnt get that far for her to offer me any sort of card!!!!

As for Tesco, no details were given and none were taken.

Sporter, did you check out Martin's article before you rang anyone http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/balance-transfer-credit-cards ?

try low balance for life rahter than 0% perhaps in the current market? And do you need the whole £11K on one card? Even moving part of the debt would make a big dent in your repayment costs.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

    Yes...........I know..........cant believe Im still here.

I've just been "hanging" around.......paying the minimum on all credit cards.
But today I had to bring myself to ring two of my four creditors to ask them whether I could make "smaller" payments as from this month. They both told me that I should wait until my "payment" date had passed, this being first week in July 2008.

The cards in question are Barclaycard and M&S............

Why do I have to wait before my payment date?
