Might be worth staying with Staywarm for another year, at least you know the price is fixed for 12 months.

......... but they cannot seem to tell me if the monthly DD price they quote is guaranteed not to go up for 12 months.......................

Then it won't be. They shout about fixed tariffs from the rooftops and charge a premium, so if they don't mention it, then it will be variable.

How can this tariff be open to over-60's only? Surely this falls foul of age-discrimination laws?

OAPs will still be entitled to concessions on everything from holidays to insurance premiums, the Government has said ahead of legislation banning age discrimination coming in to force.

There had been fears the Act would prevent tour operators such as Saga or Club 18-30 organising holidays for specific age groups.
Saga, which specialises in offering holidays and financial services to the over-50s, had campaigned for the exemptions in the Commons and Lords.
  • Just had my renewal notice for continuance of my staywarm account, its going up by 8.5% which I think is acceptable given the way electric prices have risen over the last year, and in anticipation as to how much they will increase in the next 12 months, so i'm a reasonably happy bunny (and a warm one !):T

    Hi Brenda

Staywarm is not widely available. It's specifically designed for customers aged 60 and over.

There's also distinct criteria needed to qualify for the product. I put some details on post number 389 above which may be of interest.

Hope this is useful and points you in the right direction Brenda. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

    Hi Brenda

Quotes are done on an individual basis and are tailored around each customer's specific circumstances.

Best thing to do is call our dedicated Staywarm team and tell them your situation. They'll give you a quote which you can compare with other suppliers/tariffs.

Hope this helps Brenda. Let me know if I can help further.

    StayWarm
I had my new offer today from Staywarm it’s an increase of £6.80p a month I was paying £71.60 a month for a 1 bedroom flat with gas central heating and a gas fire.Last year it didn’t go up at all! So now it will be £78.40 a month. Considering all the recent energy price increases I am delighted! Taking into account my £200 heating allowance, for my gas and electric it works out £14.24 a week guaranteed until September 2012 .Never mind how much I use, obviously if I abused the amount I use it would effect next years contract, but I must admit the 4 years I have been with staywarm it has provided me with peace of mind with no worry’s when it’s really cold everything is on, and I am as warm as toast.
