    Hi viv

Good news on your Staywarm renewal.

You're absolutely correct about being able to use as much energy as you like for the same monthly payment throughout the term of the agreement.

However, future renewals will be based on ongoing usage so it is still important to keep an eye on what you are consuming.

Given there is no change in your monthly payments, you are obviously already doing this very effectively.

If you are ever in need of advice with this, part of the deal with Staywarm is the offer of help with energy efficiency measures. This includes the possible availability of certain free products to better insulate your property. Give us a call if you feel you might benefit from this sort of advice.

Hope this is useful and well done on keeping your consumption in check. :T

Thanks Malc I am already taking measures to watch my energy use I now have the eon energy monitor and that really makes me aware of the usage for different appliances as an example by putting my computer in sleep mode there is a 30% reduction and I have had a grant for loft insulation at the moment the loft has 4 inches of insulation but the new regulations say it should be 10 inches so I should have it sorted in the next few weeks so hopefully taking these measures will reduce my usage and keep my payments about the same for the following year and yet at the same time have all the warmth and lighting I require and of course the peace of mind that Staywarm provides.
Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Since first using Martins I have saved thousands

    Hi viv

Glad you've received your energy monitor and are finding it useful. Be careful, though, they can become compulsive as my wife and daughter keep telling me. ;)

On the energy saving front, do you have a copy of a booklet called '100 ways to save money by saving energy?' It's free and contains lots of useful tips to help you cut down.

Give us a call if you don't have a copy or drop an email with your details to the address in my Profile. I'll pop one in the post for you. :)

Total usage in last 12 months:

    Electricity 4549KWH

    Gas 12708 KWH

    Last year's monthly payments £101.50

    This year's monthly payments £101.50

Seems very steep for a 2 bedroomed property!

I don't know if I should switch to Stay Warm.
Rang them and they quoted £80.24 per month.
Then rang British Gas to get my annual usage in KW hours - 13,180
And then rang Scottish Power my annual usage - 1670
Both BG and SP offered lower rates than I'm paying them now, but I'm confused. Should I switch?
    Advice appreciated please

  • you do get a "warm glow" with the knowledge that no matter how much electricity you use, the monthly amount you pay will remain at £80. If you use more than staywarm expect they will up the anti at renewal

Renewal pops through the door today. Same price as last year. Along with a curious note!
It isn't as though we are low users - quite the opposite I would guess.
We've identified that you may not be using enough energy for Staywarm to give you good value. Please call a member of the staywarm team on ....... and we'll compare your plan against our other plans.

Hi martint123 - have you contacted them yet? I'm interested.

Not yet, will post when I do so (probably tomorrow PM).

Comparison engines give EON as the best to switch to with £288 savings - but their web site won't give a price to an existing customer :(

I'll see what happens tmw - mess me around and off to the next on the comparison list.

I'm left a bit guessing after talking to them. I get the impression that we were using more electricity than "normal" and this unbalanced their prices charged for Staywarm. I couldn't get a definite answer though.

Anyway they changed us to the standard tariff and from there you can go online and change to the much cheaper online save v3. From the consumption quoted, savings of £288 in theory.
