StayWarm
I had my new offer today from Staywarm it’s an increase of £6.80p a month I was paying £71.60 a month for a 1 bedroom flat with gas central heating and a gas fire.Last year it didn’t go up at all! So now it will be £78.40 a month. Considering all the recent energy price increases I am delighted! Taking into account my £200 heating allowance, for my gas and electric it works out £14.24 a week guaranteed until September 2012 .Never mind how much I use, obviously if I abused the amount I use it would effect next years contract, but I must admit the 4 years I have been with staywarm it has provided me with peace of mind with no worry’s when it’s really cold everything is on, and I am as warm as toast.
Lucky you getting it for £78.40. I am with EON and have been for just under one year .They have already increased their prices no so long ago and are now doing it again in Sept.I am also losing the discount of 17% which is being reduced to 2% or so . I didn't realise that EON ran Staywarm but when I did I called them up and they quoted me £95 but at 12 x £95 equalling £1140 I'll wait until the 12 months is up and see what I paid overall and decide then .....What I would really want is some Gas/Elec company to have a system where you submitted readings online each month and that generated a bill and you paid it then ...I'd prefer that to paying the same amount by DD each month Summer and Winter .
As ever the customer with Energy Companies gets taken for a ride every time and nobody does anythring about it . Energy,Rail Fares and Petrol ...all the same .0 -

Hi molley
This is something you can do on our website if you wish.
We've recently introduced a Real Time Billing facility. This allows you to enter meter readings online and request a bill to these.
If your account is already in the billing window (14 days either side of the bill date for quarterly customers), a bill will automatically be issued. Outside of this, you can opt to either view a balance the readings will produce or actually issue a bill.
The resultant balance can then be paid in any way you wish; although please be aware, you'll lose discount if you don't have a Monthly Direct Debit.
Real Time Billing is available on most tariffs but Staywarm is an exception though.
Hope this is useful molley. Give me a shout if you need any more info/advice as happy to help.

Hi Malc....I know where to enter meter reading as I have done this before but I'm not seeing where I can get a Bill generated after that ( unless it comes after I submit readings ) Does the bill generated reflect the readings submitted ?
.I can see no reference to "Real Time Billing " on the site .I'm still on Save Online 20 -
Hi molley
To use the Real Time Billing function please log into your online account and click on meter readings. Enter the up to date readings and click 'Submit Readings.'
A balance of how much you've used since your last bill will appear on screen. You will then have the option to either request a bill or treat as info only.
If you select a bill, this will be based on the readings entered.
Hope this is ok molley. Again, give me a shout if you need anything further as always happy to help.

I wonder if any Company will ever have the guts to undercut all the others ..I'm sure that would be welcomed by Energy consumers !!!0 -
Thx ..I'll do that at the end of August when my 12 months is up so I have an amount for EXACTLY 12 months useage since I moved to Eon and I can work out how much It cost me before the introductory discount was taken off as it has now stopped ..losing me about 15-16% .Gas and Elec started on different dates ( dunno why they can't get that aspect sorted ) then I'll consider moving (Again)

I am with Npower with a price hike due at the end of this month & just don't know what to do. I'm 78 years old & feel let down by rip off merchants!0 -
My bold, I'm sure they will not because if there is not a cartel of our main companies there is one **l of a lot of coincidences!

Cartel/Agreement between them all..call it what you like ..and not a sod doing anything about it0 -
I have just applied on line to change to an EDF capped account. I can't change until Sept 30th so hope EDF don't hike their prices between now & then.0

Hi dougz
Many thanks for the link to the Ofgem report about energy suppliers' social programmes.
I have gone through the sections relevant to our Staywarm programme and noted some distinct inaccuracies.
In particular, I can confirm that Staywarm is definitely not closed to new customers. Provided customers meet the relevant criteria, we are happy to offer the Staywarm tariff.
Staywarm is open to domestic customers aged 60 or over, who take dual fuel or electricity only and where they or their partner are the account holder.
The property must have no more than 3 bedrooms and a maximum of 4 people must live there.
Only customers who have Unrestricted or Economy 7 electric credit meters and gas credit meters are eligible.
Payment needs to be by Monthly Direct Debit.
Customers with non-domestic appliances like swimming pools or Jacuzzis will be excluded.
Customers who meet these requirements will be offered a 12 month Staywarm contract.
Staywarm allows customers to use as much energy as they like over the period of the agreement for the same monthly amount.
This doesn't mean usage is unimportant, though, as it will form the basis of any renewal offer at the end of the contract.
Where usage is within our threshold guidelines, customers will be offered another 12 month Staywarm contract.
However, customers with high levels of usage will not be offered another Staywarm contract. Instead, they will be offered an alternative product, usually WarmAssist Fixed provided they meet the qualifying criteria.
Again, thank you for highlighting the inaccuracies in the report. I have brought these to the attention of the relevant people at E.ON who will take these up directly with Ofgem.
I hope I have clarified our position in relation to Staywarm dougz. Give me a shout if you need any more details as will be happy to help.
Malc
this is inaccurate , a friend who is married (hes disabled and over 60) with 2 children (1 disabled) with only electric heating and cooking in house has been refused stay warm as thier previous bills with thier present supplier were "to high"
so you just cherry pick the best customers !!0 -
Hi atherlon
Usage is definitely important and sorry if this wasn't clear from my post. I did mention high consumption appliances and high levels of usage but perhaps I didn't stress it enough.
Just to be clear; Staywarm is still available for customers meeting the criteria outlined earlier. However, to make sure we're still able to continue to offer this product, there needs to be a threshold on how much energy is used this way.
I'm afraid, households using above these thresholds will not be offered the product.
Sorry you're friend was turned down atherlon but hope this make things a little clearer.
