Applied for the 18 month interest free thanks to a leaflet from JMU-95:j . Got the 'approval form' back today to sign. Had a letter included saying there had been a 'problem' processing my application so they needed some more fields filling and then sign the credit agreement and away we go. Just reading the rest of the letter where it summarised my offer and lo and behold I was signing up for a 9 month interest free balance transfer:confused: . Rang them up and customer services can either see the original application somehow or the details and they agreed I had applied for the 18 month so would get 'an analyst' to look at it and get proper agreement sent out.

I know it's stating the obvious but always check the small print, and check they aren't pulling the wool over your eyes

Hi, I've been told by several people (including a Manager) on Friday at Capital One that they are no longer accepting any applications for the 18 month or 15 month balance transfer offer.

They've told me that there was a change to the T&C on 1st June and that the paper-based applications are now invalid. They have sent me out a letter with an offer for a 9 month 0% on BT despite several customer service agents in the applications department telling me I had been accepted for the 18 month offer. Like Woby_Tide they at first said it was an error and that I should sign the 9 month offer and they would amend it to the 18 month offer on screen. I asked the lady on the phone if she would check with a Manager to see if this was ok and upon doing so, she came back to say that they would have to look into it further.

They rang me back later to tell me about the amendment to the T&C on 01.06.05 and that they couldn't possibly give me the 18 month offer. I complained that I had already been told I had been accepted and they said that there is nothing that they can do.

The offer expires in August but he said he's extended the deadline on my account due to the letters going missing.

Strange - I must have been lucky like urbanfrit - mine was paper based and received by them on 30th June and processed within the week with 18 month term. :o

And another call from them. it's still being investigated, and still they claim the deal code isn't on the system(which given I posted application in late June doesn't ring true with the other comments). i'm also 'not the only person affected by the issue' and they are attempting to resolve it, but no firm end date(I bet it's after 1st August though!)

    We shall await further developments!
  • Further to my earlier post in this thread. I just got a call from the office of Lee Powell. I got an apology and a nine month extention at the end of the 9 month agreement they had offered to me (totalling 18mnths !! :D ). Sending the form off today, will let you all know what credit limit I get.

As has been said earlier, it does pay to complain. And your complaint will be treated more seriously if you complain in writing. I suggest everyone with a genuine grievance write in to Lee Powell's office and give it a go. What have you got to lose ?

Elephant Man, do you have a telephone number for Lee Powells office as I have now faxed my complaint twice and had no response so far. You can PM me with it if you would prefer.

    Cheers!

My 18 Month 0% form was posted off on the 9th July.

I received the card today, with a very acceptable credit limit and 0% for 18 months. The balance transfer I requested on the form is already in my other account (a bit too soon, but at 18 month 0%, hey).

Now just got to wait to see what happens to my partner's 18 month 0% form that was posted on Sunday.
