Applied for the 18 month interest free thanks to a leaflet from JMU-95:j . Got the 'approval form' back today to sign. Had a letter included saying there had been a 'problem' processing my application so they needed some more fields filling and then sign the credit agreement and away we go. Just reading the rest of the letter where it summarised my offer and lo and behold I was signing up for a 9 month interest free balance transfer:confused: . Rang them up and customer services can either see the original application somehow or the details and they agreed I had applied for the 18 month so would get 'an analyst' to look at it and get proper agreement sent out.

I know it's stating the obvious but always check the small print, and check they aren't pulling the wool over your eyes

I sent in my 18 monther and got it processed correctly first time. Credit limit £14k 0% until 27th Jan 2007 so can't complain about that.

I had been allowing 6 weeks for the process but it took less than 2 weeks. First I knew about it was when I saw the BT into my old card so I knew I had been accepted before I got any ackowledgement back from Capital One!

They even said they processed balance transfer of 7th and was with old credit card on 8th! Cap one couldn't believe it had got to them so quickly (and neither can I!).

All done in less than 2 weeks. :j

My experience has been excellent - sent of my 18 month 0% on the 29th and received the card in the post today. 0% until 27th Jan '07 too - I thought it'd take at least 4 weeks, so my balance transfer went through quicker than I'd expected.

I've also got to thank JMU-95 for my application form - cheers

  • Woby_Tide I got exactly the same letter (except I applied for the 15 month offer) and kept a copy of the application. Phoned up and explained my frustration saying they were trying to amend the terms without me realising... they would not budge. Even phoned again to speak to another supervisor but they won't give me the offer I applied for - only 9 months. The supervisor gave some excuse about keying in data incorrectly - but it's just a front.

In short, it's up to me if want to accept 9 months free credit or not.

NB. Supposedly it was a processing error yet they can't reverse it, and don't need you to fill in anything again (ie. the balance transfer request)

Gonna take the credit and move over after 9 months  :

and at least its an 0800 number hehe :p

    C1 are cr*p....
i sent off for my 18 app in May, and until now i still havent recvd mt T&C's to sign.
They claim they have been sent twice but i still havent recvd them.
the last thing they said was they have been sent recorded (about a week ago)! but still allow 14 days for them to arrrive.
i have been assured i'll still get the 18 month BT but lets wait and see...
is it just me or has anyone else had problems with their post?

I applied recently on the 18 month leaflet, phoned up and they said it was accepted. Yesterday got an approved 0% for 6 months form to sign - no explanation. I phoned up and got fobbed off with it's to do with credit scoring.

Is it worth phoning up again and complaining?

    here too!!
sent off 18month form.......got a 9 month one back to sign.......hubby rang up and got told it was due to credit scoring.
am i right in thinking thats a load of old b******ks???surely wether you get the card and amount of credit is due to credit scoring but the 0% etc is up to them? it doesnt say anywhere on the leaflet that its subject to status etc and they offered him £25k so his credit scoring couldnt have been that bad!!!

Everyone who this has happened to should submit a complaint to the Financial Service Authority. It's obvious they're mis-selling a service.
  • I already asked who I could complain to and they gave me the following address;

    Lee Powell
    Director of Operations
    Executive Office
    ERC Department
    Capital One Bank Europe plc
    PO Box 5281
    Nottingham
    NG2 3HX

They didn't mention credit scoring with me... said 'they do not have the correct information to complete your application' yet all they needed was a signature on the 9 month offer.
