I can vouch for farrow and ball paint too.It goes on beautifully, doesnt smell much either and has a lovely finish. We have a room in hound lemon, one in eating room red and a wall in library red.The extra money is worth it for a good easy on paint.Farrow and balls colour range is fantastic too.Homebase sell this now so its not as difficult to find as it used to be.We used to have to order it sepecially from a little independent home store."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0

Wickes Limestone is a lovely palest-olive shade. Would have only taken 2 coats had we not accidently bought a pot of silk and not realised :rolleyes:0

B&Q do a really good Satinwood. It's quick drying, low odour and none drip!
Look out for it :-)0 -
Slightly off-topic, but if you'd really like to use DUluxI cn recommend a lovely yellow.
I think it was called Lemon Pie, I have put it in a bedroom here. It is beautiful, looks just a bit stronger than cream in dull light, but when the sun comes out it really brings out the colour, lovely pastel sunny yellow, reflects the light superbly without being too strong a colour. It is the nicest colour we have, wish I'd used it everywhere!0 -
Boyfriend (Self employed painter and decorator) has used B&Q paint plenty of times and no problems from here!Green and White Barmy Army!0

B&Q paint is fine,as long as you dont use that basic stuff thats like water, but at the end of the day you get what you pay for and dulux is by far the best, which you can get them to match the shade you want .:T :beer:0

No, Dulux isn't the best, according to Which reports. In fact, comparitively, it's pretty poor. Most expensive doesn't always mean it's the best!0 -
I am also a Dulux convert.
I have used B+Q paint 2 years ago and had to give walls 3 coats to achieve colour. This was their 'colours' paint.
Okay Dulux is dearer, but in MY opinion it covers better, and sometimes you can even get away with just 1 coat!
BTW to confirm Crown is currently owned by Akzo Nobel, who from Jan 1st 2008 completed the purchase of ICI.
Family member was made redundent last yearnot good by ICI

I did the wall behind my cooker with B&Q own brand in October. One coat of white on the new plaster and one coat of 'picket fence' (well OK magnolia!) and it's lasted well so far. Very easy to roll on. The odd splash has wiped clean so far.
I wish they sold it in smaller pots. I think I used about 1cm from the tub - I could have almose done the job with two match pots! On the bright side, whenit does get shabby I can repaint it.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
I have to say thanks for all your replies - the Lemon Pie sounds good though;)0
