I use Dulex paint - but I want to paint my dining room yellow and I don't like the dulex shades. Does anyone know if B & Q paints any good? Anybody used Crown recently?
Thx

No doubt I'll get a slating from the pros for saying this, but I don't really get all the hoo-har about branded paint. Perhaps if you're going lighter over a much darker shade its more imortant, but I have bargain basement Wilko's own brand jobby in my living room and Wickes budget range everywhere else... coverage was excellent and they look great. I had testpots for just about every range going and made my selection solely based on the shade. I spent more on testpots than actual paint!0

Dulux now own the Crown brand - Focus paint is made by Scrown & always been a quality product, for me!
B&Q, used some of theirs too, been fine.
Most of the own make, will be more than OK, except the REALLY budget 'basic's type ranges. Then you'll end up using more coats, to cover, as well as having a lessser range to choose from
& don't forget, the majority of B&Q's will offer a Dulux paint mixing service, if you wanted them to make the right colour for you. More xpensive, that way!!

I've used B&Q white gloss on my bathroom door recently and it covers and goes on much nicer that Crown or Dulux. I've also used their mixing system emulsion paints and they're fab. My daughter had a deep purple to cover her wallpaper aqnd with one coat it covered everything up. Would highly recommend B&Q.0

the dulux colour range consists of over 12000 colours , i would have thought there would have been one there that you might like , you can get any object scanned for a match
akzo nobel the owners of crown paints do own ici , who make dulux paint , they have now however sold of the crown paint section of the company due to having a too large a share of the paint market0 -
Budget Gloss & undercoat is fine, but be careful of "Cheap" emulsion, always look on the can, if it says "Stir well before use" DONT buy it, itll be too sloppy. This ONLY applies to Emulsion !0

Was told by a pro painting never ever buy b&q paint!
It will cause heart ache!
a few coats of paint required.
So you get what you pay for!0 -

nowt wrong with own brand paint generally.
ive used BQ and wickes with no problems.
the emulsion is always a bit thin and you may need more coats, but money is saved. time is not really an issue for a diyer.Get some gorm.0 -
