I've heard that if you have thrush in a 'delicate'place put yogurt on it. How on earth did somebody discover that!!0

I have several 1970s book of moneysaving tips, - i can't remember now if this one was in the Dave Hamilton one or the Jo Hatcher one. It's a tip for bargain Christmas decorations : - (sorry, a bit early even for us frugal people!.)

"Get offcuts of metal from your local canning factory - where they have cut the circles out for the can bases, the leftover pieces are star shapes. Cut them apart and they make lovely shiny stars to hang on your tree!"
(...and now turn to pg 96 for tips on how to staunch the bleeding.....)0 -

I always have kept my lipstick in the fridge as it keeps longer and goes further, also if you have some small tubes of super glue, if you keep them in the butter drawer of the fridge for some reason they stay runny and not clog and stick as they do normally.Superglue is so expensive, I hate opening a tube then having to bin it after just once use.
My late dad used the inside of a banana skin to clean our shoes for school when he ran out of shoe polish0 -
This thread has kept me giggling for ages; a nurse friend told me about the yoghurt for nappy rash when my boys were babies - it worked a treat and is more natural and cheaper than any brand-name cream. I have often wondered who discovered it worked for thrush!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Perhaps not one to try .....
In 2002 a farm keeper from Sao Paulo, Brazil decided to remove a beehive from his orange tree. He didn't know exactly how to proceed, but he knew the hive should be burned and he knew bees sting. So he protected his head with a plastic bag sealed tightly around his neck, grabbed a torch, and went off to fight the bees.
His worried wife went to look for him a few hours later, and found his body. However, it wasn't the bees that killed him. The plastic bag had protected him from smoke, stingers and - oxygen! He had forgotten to add breathing holes.
Maybe he should have used ST's :rotfl:0 -

One of mine had a really bad nappy rash (may have been around the time that he had thrush) and I was advised to have a go at the 'egg white' method. Separate an egg yoke from the white and keep the white in a covered cup in the fridge. After changing the nappy, wash and dry baby's rear very gently not using any soap at all just tepid water. When thoroughly dry, use your fingers to 'paint the bum' with the egg white and allow it to dry before putting the nappy back on again. You can actually see the 'barrier layer' that this leaves on the skin and can tell when it's dry so you can put the nappy back on again. Of course the best possible method with a very young baby is to lay them on the floor on a piece of old sheet and leave the nappy off for as long as possible during the day. Fresh air on a bare bum works wonders  - lol.
Of course, in this day and age, we are told to be very careful with eggs where babies are concerned.0 -
another ST moment..
.......I have a male friend and when he was young he found his mums ST and asked what they were for, she told him they were for headaches.........a few days later she comes home from work and he has gone to bed with a headached.......with ST stuck all over his head:rotfl:I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like youwould like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing

I still think it's weird that boiling up water with biological washing powder in your frying pan leaves it sparkling clean!!0
