mybook wrote:After been qouted between £1950 - £2750 for my sons insurance on a 52 reg corsa (20 years old passed driving test 6 months ago)from both confused.com and insurancesupermarket.
I was thinking no wonder we have young drivers driving with no insurance when they are qouted prices like the above. I received and email from http://www.ecarinsurance.co.uk and would now highly recommend looking at them as i was qouted £650 fully comp.. a massive saving on confused and insurance supermarket prices qouted.

Surely I'm a lower risk than the £650 quote above

Well im more than happy - I already knew about the "4 steps" procedure before visiting this website. Basically go to confused etc, get best quote and barter your !!!!!! off!
This i did, I received my renewal quote for a 2.0 Toyota Celica of £491 which I thought was a bit high, went to confused.com and quotes ranged from
£407 - £508.65. I then went to insuresupermarket where the quotes ranged from £279.13 - £590.26
The £279 was from highway but some of their terms were not what I wanted so I looked at Swift cover at £322, once I added protected NCD it went up to £398 so I started barting with privilege (who I was insured with) they got it down to £383 and with a discount online got it down to £373. Not thinking I would get it any cheaper I went to Elephant.co.uk who quoted me at £312 but that was on the 10 month bonus accelerater and I dont really want that so the 12 month option was £344! Bargain £250 cheaper than my highest quote and £150 cheaper than my renewal. Now I can get round to paying my credit card off!!!0 -
Can anyone help? I have had my own car since 2002 and have 4 years no claims. I'm 27. Insurance runs out in July, and by then I'm hoping to have part exchanged for a slightly better car, and will also add my boyfriend to the policy. He's 33 but only passed his test this year.
First question: would I be better off putting myself as the main driver as I have been driving 10 years, considering I have 3 points on my license for speeding, or bf who has a clean license but is brand new?
Second question: BF would like to earn his own no claims bonus if I am the main river. I know Direct Line do this, but do other insurers? Don't want to go with DL for this alone if they are more expensive.
Thanks for any replies.0 -
I have just received my renewal from Direct Line. I decided to check for an on line quote from them - it was £30 cheaper with a lower excess! When I phoned to asked why and if they would match the on-line quote I was told 'no' - it was because I was buying on-line I was eligible for the 10% discount. The £30 difference was more than 10%. Buyer beware!0

If your car is 10 plus years old then you may qualify for "classic car" insurance. These are usually limited mileage policies of between 1K and 9K. When my Merc 500SL had it's 10th birthday in 2001 I switched to a Classic policy and saved a fortune. I was paying around £1300 a year, now on a classic policy it's £420, fully comp, limited to 1500 miles/year. Most main stream insurers wouldn't touch a 30 year old with a 5 litre convertible - my renewal is due next month and I'm sticking with Peter Best Classic.0

Hi
New to this.
Have just followed the steps for car insurance, went to confused.com and the cheapest quote was for 336.00 with RAC. My renewal quote (with Zurich) is 542.00. Needless to say I will be changing. Also saved over 200.00 on buildings insurance so thanks again.

I'm more than happy with my car insurance quotes today. I've been with Diamond since I passed my test 4 years ago and to date, their quotes were the best ones I was getting. This year though, I founds several cheaper quotes and after a little bit of shopping around, went with Tesco's. They offered me, with £150 voluntary excess, a premium of £262 which is wonderful compared to the £400 odd that Diamond quoted me this year! Diamond tried to better the Tesco's quote once I told them I wouldn't be renewing with them, but couldn't manage it. And I also get the £25 of petrol vouchers which I'm pretty pleased about. I've cut my monthly payment in half which is fantastic.PROUD TO HAVE DEALT WITH MY DEBTS0
