All the mentioned urls were quite useless for my reknewal.
Cheapest one came out to £560 which is £120 more than my renewal with Admiral was.
Spent the last few hrs going thru everyone by hand and the best was ESURE (by far) at £339 (or £370 protected ncb)
Next was Sainburys @ £380 unprotected.
My renewal was £440 with Admiral (going to barter with them tomorrow) , so i'm quite pleased over all.
My only dilema is it worth protecting ones NCB as they all have the "have you had an accident in the last 3 years" question anyway, so would it be worth it? (4yrs NCB)0 -
hi, i have found that co-op car insurance the cheapest by far, check them out.0

Thought I'd try them again when my own came up for renewal this month (2002 Toyota Yaris, maximum NCB, fully comp, protected NCB). Came to £123.30 after the GreasyPalm £30 cashback was deducted!30 years, 217 days!0 -
I used confused twice now for car insurance seemed Norwich union have always been best so far, not by much though. Before Norwich union I was with co-op two years running they were far more expensive than with Norwich when I changed cars.
Note in my thread in vent board don't trust insurance companies to give a good renewal, start as a new customer again, I saved £80 that way with same insurance company I paid now £105 (includes £25 cashback) compared with £210 had I renewed by policy
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
Does anyone know if you take out car insurance over the phone and cancel it after 5 days, are you liable for any charges? Nothing has been signed only a covernote was sent with the documents for the agreement to be signed and returned back to the broker.0

I personally wouldnt go near its4me.co.uk.
I signed up with them a few years back online, printed off my insurance certificate and policy schedule.
I was attracted to them because they stated there were no fees to pay if you paid via installments.
3 years down the line I happened to look at one of my policy schedules detailing payments. The price I had been quoted on renewal notice was £325 or something similar, but when I added up the monthly payments due it came to £475! I called them, they said I was paying a charge to pay with installments.
Explained about original offer on website that said no installment charges, also the fact that they sent out renewal notices with the actual policy amount on it less the installment charges. Which would indicate they were trying to hide these charges!
I never renewed my policy with themUrsula wrote:As an alternative, I'd like to recommend https://www.its4me.co.uk
I was unhappy with the policy being offered by brokers I had used for the past 5 years and did a search for online quotes using google. Its4Me was one of the sites listed.
Funnily enough they came up with a policy through my current insurer (Provident), same terms, same no claims, same everything, but £100 cheaper!
You can make your payment online and print off your own insurance certificate etc although they also send you the paperwork through the post. (I also needed to send proof of no claims discount but that wasn't a problem).
So... simply by changing broker, not insurer, I managed to save £100.

Last year I bought a car insurance policy for our new car with Esure.co.uk, and having had no claims in the year, was invited to renew at the renewal date.
However, the renewal schedule sent to me in the post had a renewal premium of £373. A friend of mine mentioned that if you re-enter all of your details into the esure web site, they will quote you a premium which is substantially cheaper than the renewal premium. I did so, and the premium quoted for the same car and same drivers was £325. A saving of almost £50.
Questions:
Is this fair?
How does the company justify this? Surely it costs them less to offer an existing customer a renewal than it does to process a new customer.
Are other companies doing the same? My inkling is that they are.
Would readers be interested to discover this money-saving trick?
Is it limited to car insurance, or shall we play the same game with house insurance too?0 -
Has anyone ever had their car insurance from Egg?
I noticed on their website today that they are offering £30 cashback if you pay for it with your egg card, offer 10% for buying online and you can pay over 12 months interest free if paid in full with your egg card.
The online price is more or less the same as my current insurers (Direct line) but with the discounts etc then it would be worth doing (well £30 is £30!!)
But are they any good???2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310

I have just had a great quote from Esure...£368.00 fully comp and protected bonus with no excess. They asked to see my proof of no claims from my previous insurer, Sainsburys. On this I had a windscreen claim, and 2 non-fault claims, one that I paid for myself and one that a third party insurer paid for. ALL did NOT affect my NCB. However now Esure want another £122.00 for these 'claims'. Apparently you even get loaded for claims which arn't your fault!
Has anyone had the same eexperience? If so please let me know
Thanks :mad:0 -
I use Experians creditexpert and have noticed that when I have applied for car insurance quotes online, some providers search my credit file.
As you can well imagine, this causes some concern as I do not know if this will have a detrimental effect on my credit score given that I may be searching numerous insurance companies for the best quote.
I have emailed Experian querying this but have yet to receive a reply. Can anyone advise if there have also noted this or have had experience of this.
Thanks0
