Thanks to this i've HALVED my bill!
I'm 25 & have always been with Liverpool Victoria (previously called Frizzels). They weer the cheapest when i signed up at 17 years old.... now..... my thing was just under £600 - i've never claimed in my life so far (touch wood)
So i did this search online, cheapest came back at about £290 - that was budget (Advantage) I saw bad things about them on here so skipped them. Directline came back but there was no price, so i went to their website & put my details in. It came back with about £315, i then look at the details & found this was for a £100 excess, so i changed that to £250 & it drops by about £10. I could also remove legal cover & gaurenteed hire care for about £15 each. I decide to keep the legal & remove hte hire car cos i can get around by bus if i really need. My total ended up at £297!
So, a big THNAKS to Martin & others who have helped, you've saved me £300!0 -
i use various methods including those that have been mentioned to check for the cheapest insurance every time my insurance due.. this yr i went with the same insurance company i was with last yr but i checked them out again online and they were £30 cheaper than there renewal quote.. was told this was because there is a discount online.. i cancelled my existing policy took out a new one online and all with the same company im already with ..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -
I 've used both-
Confused saved me over 25% (£200) on my car insurance!
But I would strongly suggest the following as well, if a broker is involved
When your broker invites renewal ask them to send you a copy of the Quotation comparisom Gemini in this case- The broker for my wife's car insurance inadvertantly did and it showed a policy by the same provider with same T&C's for 10% less (£25) than the plan they stated "remains competative" and invited renewal.
No forms to fill in, just £25 saved!I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far! :mad:0 -
my son who is 20 has just bought a small elderly car, a J reg Renault Clio 1.4. He (and I) are trying to find the cheapest way to insure him but have found quotes of £983 from Tesco as the cheapest which is still much more expensive than the car itself.
My son turns 21 in mid July and the info from confused.com shows that his premium falls by over £200 then. So what is the best way to insure him in the meantime when all insurers will only accept an annual policy application.
Would appreciate any advice on this. Thanks :0 -
for such an old car i'd only insure it with third party fire & theft......
no idea about the time until 21st though.0 -
I am soooo pleased!!yesterday I saved £350 on my car insurance from confused.com
How good is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh no I sound like an advert...........when things go wrong, Don't go with them!0 -
I was quite pleased with confused.com & thought I was gonna go with MoreTh>n [but direct, to save a further coupla quid off confused's MoreTh>n price...) BUT THEN today I've discovered that elephant.co.uk [not covered by confused, apparently] is EVEN CHEAPER!! Only by about a fiver but £5 is £5 and better in MY pocket than... And I think [need to double-check] that the excess-for-the-price is less too. So I think I'll probably go with the jumbo [unless I turn up anything untoward about them amongst all this chat].Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

Have you tried for a quote through the cashback link for rpoints and greasypalm?Another couple are bighair and usually you could get double cashback with quidco :beer:0 -
In fact, in the end I went with Esure [who I was with 2 years ago] because the 15 quid cashback via GreasyPalm brought the bottom line figure down to £203.30 as opposed to Elephant's £210.Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

I stand to "pocket" ..... *drumroll* .... £100+ !!! :j
How?- Nipping dh's "But I always use them, so I didn't *read* it!" :wall: thus reading the docs properly with just a couple of days to go b4 renewal
- *NOT* paying by DD (cheeker beggars charge extra by calling the DD payments, LOAN REPAYMENTS @ 26.8%APR!!!)
- Research and advice on here
- New Quote
- Using Tesco CC to make payment thereby also gaining Clubpoints (paid in full each month!)
