Thanks for that.Just contacted my son (who built our computer!) -he says that it's only I.E. that has levels of security as you describe, but Firefox doesn't.So we tried going through a proxy site but got an error message direct from Kaupthing this time. Will try again later.0 -

Ah, that takes me back to the time MBNA sent my credit card statement to someone else. We were not amused.0 -
Reading through this thread I thought I would put on my experience of Kaupthing.
I opened account with no problem sent £1 bacs from linked acct and transferred bulk by chaps. So hopefully everything appears in order just waiting for first monthly interest payment.I opened or tried to an account with coventry b/s where I was to place 1/2 my money but Kaupthing up and running and holding my cash scored because it was easy and straight forward .Coventry returned my ID documents as they require them to be validated, after I phoned up cust service I was told I would have to take my documents to a lawyer or some person of upstanding in society and signed to say they were authentic.Totally ridiculous it's me placing my money with them it should be me who is wary.I have had trouble also with All/Leic where I have direct saver acct I have tried in vain to open new E-saver acct since 4th March to no avail even having to send in proof of identity.I think after my experiences and I am relatively new to this game someone ought to shake up the english banks and b/ss and put in some proper staff who can make good decisions and policies in favour of potential investors looking for a reasonable return on their hard earned like the icelandic banks seem to be doing.0 -

It's precisely because you are placing money with them that you have to prove your identity.
All UK financial institutions are required by law to establish depositors' identities under legislation intended to prevent money laundering.0 -
Opened my account with Kaupthing and transferred some money this week - everything went very smoothly, no hassles so far *crosses fingers*0

Yes we all know that but there is ID proving and OTT ID proving where the jobsworth's lurk.Anyway if you want to talk about money laundering let them prove I am rather than me proving I am not ,I am an upright honest citizen born and bred in my country let somebody try and prove otherwise0
